I have had excellent accuracy with my hw95 in its stock full power configuration at 20-30 yards, with just a lube tune. But it had more recoil and surge than I liked for trying to shoot smaller groups beyond 30, and never quite matching my Paul Watts tuned FWB 124 at my typical practice distance of 20. I decided to try the Ultra XLD spring in it (as I am cheap and didn't buy a kit), made for the HW50 from ARHQ, and installed the vortex moly seal. Without sizing, it was too tight, but I shot it a bit anyway, with velocity around 575 with 8 grain wadcutters. After sizing the seal, it came up to 775 with JSB 8.4 exacts, the exact same velocity, by chance, of my FWB 124. Groups immediately shrunk in size for me. I shot 5 into around .1" ctc yesterday at 20 yards, which rivals the best group that I have ever shot with any air rifle from the corner of my porch, sitting with the rifle rested against my knee. I will shoot the rifle some more when the wind calms, but so far so good. The rifle has a fast lock time, less recoil, and the spring fits the OEM rear guide very tightly. I used just one white spacer in the piston and there is room for more. 11.2 Ft lbs or so will be plenty for me and the spring is a cheap upgrade for anyone who wants to save some money and knock down the velocity a bit.Vs
