once more into the breach - trying direct drive again

Before I get started I wanted to say that, yes, I do know the definition of insanity.
So, I've been having some real blobbing and stringing issues (Ender 3 v2 stock - PETG). I thought it was the filament so I dried some PETG in my food dehydrator. No help. I changed nozzles a few times but the issues kept coming back. I tweaked slicer settings and temperatures, nothing.
As I was replacing yet another nozzle, I noticed some build up on the hot end. I took off the fan cover and it looked like a filament crime scene. There was caked on filament all over the sides and top of everything. As I was cleaning it up, I noticed the actual problem. The nozzle was cocked. Apparently I had cross-threaded it at some point.
Ok, so the heat block is trashed, let's look at options. Generic hot end on Amazon for $10. Crealty hot end for $20ish. Vulcan hot end, Sprite, Spider, etc, etc. After crawling out of the rabbit hole, I decided to try the Crealty direct drive unit again. I mean, $30 with overnight shipping, why not? Yes, I tried this before and, yes, it was not good. But that was an open box item that had issues with uneven heating. And I'm so much smarter than I was a couple of months ago. Really.
So the Amazon fairies dropped the direct drive unit off this morning and I already had the stock hot end removed. 20 minutes later I'm running an extrusion test and re-tramming the bed. Watching that filament come out of the nozzle as straight as a plumb bob felt really good.
I'm currently printing a turret base that has 100 little teeth running up the outside of the cylinder, this should be a good test to see if things are fixed. So far it looks fantastic.

Im using a micro-swiss with Overture petg and it prints wonderful. I have found many brands of petg simply print terrible.
