Thanks Tom, I have been thinking about a scope and think the Bullseye would be the way to go. I was undecided between the XL and the 125 but the parts availability for the XL won out. I'm happy with my choice although I do like my Hatsuns.
Tom, thats a bummer not sure what I will do for a scope it did come with a C/P scope. My Nitro Venom Dusk is a scope eater and I think this XL just might be one also.Rion, your getting a good workout running a tin of cp heavies. I haven't even went through 150 in my XL.
I have the Trail XL in 0.22 and have about 7500 pellets through it. My best accuracy is with JSB 18gr heavies producing 22fpe. It will do a 10 shot group of 1.25" at 25 yrs of the bench with a 10X scope.I have found that some of the hold sensitivity is due to how tight the barrel shroud muzzle cap is based on pellet selection affecting barrel harmonics. I use a torque wrench to set the muzzle cap tension. There was a thread about this a few years ago and I used it as a guide. It is a cumbersome undertaking investigating various pellet weights, head sizes and torque settings.
Tom, thanks for confirming the barrel harmonics issue of the Trail XL. I like your solution. I tried shooting mine without the shroud and the group sizes and POI were all over the place. The barrel is quite long and couple this with the power of the XL, and harmonics are a definite issue. Once I found a torque setting that minimized my groups for the JSB 18gr Heavies, I used blue loctite on the threads for the muzzle cap. It has held up for over a year now. Also, the other two things for me that make this rifle perform are the CDT trigger and a good scope. The scope I'm using is the UTG 4-12x44 with UTG rings.
