Hi Randall.Wow..a two-fer on those RATS ! That's the way to do it !Best Wishes - Tom
Excellent shooting Randall! Two in the ame evening is awesome! Seems if I can get one, and others seem to steer clear for a good while. Glad you're dry spell is over, may you be blessed with a small plague of rats to keep you busy!
It has been quite a dry spell here for rats, nothing for 2 months until tonight! A friend was staying here and in the room I snipe these from and these showed up right before he did about a week and a half ago so I had to be patient until he went on his way! I didn't know if there were more than one but had seen the female so was hoping her mate was near by. I had set up the doorcam early as she had been coming between 5-6pm (YES early) and I had the Prod ready and loaded and de-cocked near the tripod with y-yoke and I got an alert @ 5:30-ish. I saw one there and opened the window, cocked the Prod, turned on the IR and released the safety. Put the Prod into the y-yoke and yup, still there! Put the illuminated dot on her temple as she was broadside and slowly released the trigger and at the same instant saw her bolt to my left which was ok since she was already facing left and the JSB sleeping pill made contact...where....didn't know, so I quickly grabbed another pill, loaded it and boogied on out and she was laying next to the bait station breathing quickly but not moving so I quickly ended her pain with a frontal lobotomy. I went inside to tell the wife of my great hunt when I heard another alert on my phone...yup, another one! I quickly loaded another pill, ran to the window, opened it, turned on the red LED flashlight as dusk had turned to light darkness, turned on the scopes IR, placed Prod on y-yoke saw him chowing down with a str8 on shot, placed the dot on his forehead and let the pill fly....thwack...he crumbled and did a short, quick little dance on the platorm as my wife watched on the phone saying "nice shot"! Mated pair of large rattus in less than 5 minutes...great way to end the dry spell.

Excellent shooting Randall!! 2 kills in a few minutes made up for the dry spell. I guess the male was following the female to make sure she didn't cheat on him They probably had expanded the family before making the mistake to wander in your yard, so I think you 'll see some young ones soon.
Nice shooting Randall! I have had a dry spell also , but I did find a small female in a trap yesterday so the bait is out.
Randall , way to go ! My shooting has slowed somewhat, as the trip last week netted only 4. But , got all of them w/in about 20 min.s . I hit the barn early today before daylight . No activity for about 45 min.s . I called it quits as the cows were up & moving about . I moved over to the main barn area & set out 5 crow decoys in hopes of enticing some action there. Temp was in the low 20's , so it didn't take long for my feet to get cold w/ lightly insulated boots . As I was wrapping up my gear , wouldn't you know I started hearing & seeing crows ! Another day perhaps, the season extends into April here. I'll give the rat barn a week or so then hit it again . Keep the pellets on target !
