Title: Field Supply won't unsubscribe...
Post by: desmobob on February 05, 2023, 05:46:38 PM
I've done business with Field Supply several times over the years and have taken advantage of some of the really good Hatsan deals they've had.  Orders are always processed and shipped quickly and accurately in my experience.  I have a pellet order from them en route and arriving tomorrow.

But after ordering, I start getting "Field Supply Deals" e-mails daily.  The "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of the page is a dead link.  After sending an e-mail requesting "unsubscribe," I now get about three e-mails daily instead of the already-annoying single e-mail.  I can't help but think that's no accident.

I know I can set up my e-mail program to put the messsages in a SPAM folder but that's not the point... Field Supply should treat their customers with a little more respect, providing an unsubscribe link that actually works and honoring e-mail requests to unsubscribe from the Deals e-mails.

Bob, I too have done a good bit of busines with Field Supply and have received the Field Supply Deals emails also... but everytime I unsubscribed from the emails, it has worked for me. The last time I ordered from them was a couple weeks ago, and I have not received any more messages after unsubscribing the day after I received the order.

By the way, I always check out as a guest and have not created an account with them. Not sure if you have an account, that might be an issue?

Sadly, this type of thing is more and more common lately. I got on some toxic mailing list from one transaction purchasing PB ammo ((not from Field supply)) . I now get pure $4i7 spam from about 5 or 6 companies, all clearly different faces of the same store. Reporting as spam, un-subing, is no use. I made a filter to send it all to trash and just just purge it every few days. This type of toxic marketing may work on some people, but I am not having it. I agree with desmobob, this type of disrespectful spamming is not the way to do business.

It's looking like the issue was probably my fault.

I mentioned their unsubscribe link being dead... it turns out that the content blocking feature I have enabled in my browser was the problem.  When I used to click on their unsubscribe link, I'd get a spinning circular arrow typical of a page loading, and it would continue that way endlessly.  I just checked my settings when on that page and de-selected my content blocker.  The page loaded and it accepted my unsubscribe request.  Time will tell if it works.

Of course, that still doesn't explain why my "Deals" e-mail volume from them tripled or why they didn't respond to the e-mails I sent asking to unsubscribe...

I'm sure they are computer generated and when you emailed them it went into a place no one looks at. They usually have a note do not respond to this email label.

I realize that.  I e-mailed the customer service address.

And what do you know... I heard back from them this morning.  Coincidence?   ::)
