I didn’t know that bolt version existed. How about your valve with a 66 pump tube? My experience with plastic fantastic 760s is that they can be too light.
The trigger spring in the new 760s are plastic and it's molded to the trigger..I cut the plastic trigger spring off. its just a C shaped peace . I added in a small metal spring , just enuff spring to push the trigger back forward so the safy will work also bend the safety spring just so the safety still works ...the trigger is much lighter... I pinned the valve too as they like to walk back after some use and you will loos power no matter what mods you do..a flat top will make it walk back even fester..I supper glued around the probe until it fit snug , NO air leak...I opened up the valve a bit and the port . Put a lighter spring in the val Polished the hammer .it needs to be cocked before pumping..also stuffed the pump cup ..put shims washer on the linkage assembly to get rid of the slop ..cut out a wall inside the grip ,now it will hold 400 BBs .but the new one you got holds even more do to the new stock and BB loading port... I did more , I just can't think of it all lol I'm getting old anyway its a fun gun to mess around with... have fun ..
Thanks for all of the helpful input fellas. Some good threads as well. The plastic trigger spring is pretty "special" for lack of a better word. Wish there was a better fix for the bolt/breech all together. Perhaps a rehash of a 1300 series design with a better stock (non pistol grip) may be a better route. I am still going to do the 760 plastic fantastic for gits and shiggles. Keep the awesome ideas coming, and I will keep you updated on project status. Currently it is sitting in pieces, waiting for a couple parts.
I like the shorty 760. I was thinking of trimming a few inches off my current build. Wish there was a way to adapt a 1300 type steel breech to the 760.

I’ve seen guys stiffen up their 760 plastic receivers internally with epoxy putty, scuffing up the inside with sand paper for better adhesion. You would have to test first making sure everything clears. You probably can adapt some 13xx parts to work with your newer 760. I know they work with the older ones. The 880 is a good gun. I’m still wanting an 822 (.22). The concepts are the same but internally they are different animals than the Crosmans. I pulled out a couple of guns for a size comparison. It use to be brown but I gave the brown stock and forearm to my nephews son. The barrel is a flipped 1377 barrel with the rear cut off and the front turned down to fit the barrel support. My problem with it is that the bolt kicks open when I shoot it. BUT I got parts in the mail now to fix the problem.
