It all started with the changing of the scope to the bsa 4x. After the change i noticed my groups getting closer.so after a quick burst of joy I put my special bait out on the side of my yard (captain crunch, corn, black sunflower seeds, and peanuts) and waited from my sniping position 27 yards away for the trash can digger.Right at dawn i see the big coon out the corner of my eye as it was making it's expedition for the bait.I Put the crosshairs on his head and waited till he looked square down at the bait then i sent the chp but upon entering the coon he moved his head to the left and it smaked him on the side of the face and he dropped like a bag of rocks.upon examination of the coon i noticed the skull was smahed and pellet was lodged on the other side of his brain.

Good shooting,But the thought of using one of my favorite cereals LOl
-
Wow. Impressive to say the least. :D Something must be up with my whisper .177 since it took 7 shots at point blank to end a coon I shot a couple years back in a trap. Congratulations on a fine airgun trophy! :D
-
Yes coons do love anything sweet like honey buns, powdered downuts, and very good cereal lol.btw my gamo has some mods to it for increased power and has taken up to coyotes.and I still thought that the coon was going to need a follow up because those bandits are some tough critters.
-
Thats real cool . What was the range you reckon? What weight pellet? This proves that by waiting for a shot rather than just letting one fly , you can get an instant kill and not a maimed animal running for a bid to freedom in horrific pain.
I get real spewey when I hear about "the one that got away" with a bullet stuck in it somewhere , just because the shooter wasnt responsible enough to wait to get the life ending shot . I applaud you for your sportsmanship . 10/10

Very nice shooting and great pics! I
have been putting out some old Froot Loops (not expired yet, but we just don't eat those), and something has been eating most of it almost every night. I was almost certain that it was skunks. Well last night I forgot to turn off the ding donger when I went to bed. Around 2am, it went off and when I went to the window to see what was out there, it looked like a possum was walking away from the cereal. I hope it comes earlier next time. It's hard for me to get up in the middle of the night like I used to.
-
the coon was 27 yards away.I do not know the weight of the pellet but it was a crosman hollowpoint. ONly 1 harry: yeah im trying to get better at waking up when i hear noises out in the yard.
-
You shot a coyote with the big cat? What has been done? What does it cronyat? Must be making big numbers to even think of whackin a yote with a .177
-
no i havent shot the yote it was the dude that i got the gun from that shot it.ima have to get into contact with him to find out the internal mods. but it had crony at around 1145 with crosman hollopoints and PBAs at 1345fps average if i remember correctly. There have been a couple of yotes here on the forum taken with 177's.

[/quote ah somthing must be wrong cause ive seen {personaly}a big cat gamo take a possem when cleaned hide the pellet measured .274 out of a .177 good shot luck i dont know but it stopped it clean made me a believer but a .22 is still a cleaner kill .
-
nice killl man! How do you like your big cat? seems to be the most popular gamo around here
-
Man i love my gamo. When i first got it i had to get use to it but once i did the groups got tighter and it settled down alot.

That's sick man, I have the Silent Cat, love it so far! It really shoots nicely now... esp with my new scope.

Great shooting and pics and that looks like a youngster too. A midpowered springer can do the job with a well placed shot and pellet selection. Ed

I have been trying to bait in a coon also, he has been getting in the bird feeder at night, I have game camera pics of him hanging on the side of the tree and pulling the feeder over to him and having a feast. So I have started putting out alittle dog food in a bowl on the ground and something has been eating it every night so last evening I got a new battery for my game cam and put out the bait and cam just awhile ago, will see in the morning if its him. I also have a ding donger from ebay coming ,should be here this coming week. Then he better look out, I dont mind getting up in the night if I know he is out there. jrfan

Wow, that Big Cat has a big punch! 23 FPE in 177? That is crazy. Are you getting a crack as it is over the speed of sound? Ever tried the CP's 10.5 grain pellets? Might slow it down a bit, be more accurate and pack more punch at distance.
-
when i first got the gun it was wayyy louder than my marlin .22 and it use to make a crack upon firing .No snaab i have never tried the cp 10.5 but i might give them a try.i have been looking into using a diffrent hunting pellet that would deliver all the energy on impact.Squirrels just dont have a change against this gun unless thier past 65 yards.lol

I like that sling job you did on there. How did you do it exactly?
-
What you have to do is to get some sling studs and then once you have those you take a drill and drill into the part of the stock you want your sling at(just make sure that the stock is not thin in the area you are drilling).Next you screw the studs into the drilled holes.now the fun part, you pick out you a sling that is compatible with this setup.btw you can also attach a bipod to the stud on the forearm. And there ya go. ;-)

Thanks for info. I think that's what im going to do on my big cat next. I don't like having to ziptie a sling onto the barrel and stock.
-
I dont either . When i shoot with it set up like that it makes me think that its effecting my accuracy.
-
Nice shooting
-
Great shooting! You can also buy those Gamo slings that you don't have to drill.
-
Looks like you got yourself a new hat.
-
Man o man, that is a sweet big cat.
