I recently purchased a refurbished Proxima.22 and am trying to find a new vortex piston seal. I believe the Proxima air spring is the type 7? Are the after market piston seals for Hatsan 125, 135’s compatible? I’ve attempted to contact Hatsan about this, with no luck...

Give Vortek Products Inc. a shout. They may be able to help you?
The factory molded seals worked better than the vortek in my Hatsans.

I hope that you enjoy your new rifle. Have you chrony tested it yet?
Hatsan only has two "plunger seals", large and small. HatsanUSA's website doesn't say which plunger seal fits the Proxima but I'll guess that its the large one. They are out of stock with the smalls right now. When you get one, get several that way you'll have them on hand for years to come.
Everyone tells me the same thing- that the factory seals are at least just as good in a Hatsan as any after-market seals you'll find.
Vortex vs Vortek - sheesh its so hard to keep those two straight~~

I finally had a reply from Hatsan, they are sending an order form for the seal and I plan to order a couple spares. I also, called the gentleman from Vortek and he was unsure what size seal fit the Proxima. I haven’t chronographed the gun yet, but plan to in the near future. Overall I’m fairly happy with the gun. I’m trying several different pellets to try and find which it likes. It shoots fairly accurate with the iron sites, but I’ve had issues with the UTG Bugbuster scope and significant barrel droop. I’m ordering the piston seal because I accidentally dropped a pellet into the piston chamber when attempting a single load. After emptying the magazine the gun is cocked and the only way to discharge is to single load a pellet. While doing that, I fumble fingered a pellet into the air chamber, so it will have to come apart. It will give me a chance to “tune” a little.

I've never seen a Proxima first hand so its hard for me to visualize what you mean by dropping a pellet into the chamber. If you mashed a pellet without realizing it, there's a chance the piston seal is fine. Be sure to chrony test before you change anything. That way you'll know if any work you did changed anything. No doubt cleaning and relubing will help.
I'm also not sure why you believe your rifle has barrel droop. Usually, that's an issue with break-barrels only. The Proxima is a fixed barrel with an underlever for cocking. I wonder if what you are experiencing when trying to get your scope zeroed in is a result of how high above the barrel the scope needs to be mounted since it needs to be high enough to clear the magazine. The higher the scope is the trickier it is to get the vertical adjustment zeroed in on a rifle. I have two UTG scopes and I find them to be good scopes.

On the Proxima there is a tube that retracts and extends through the pellet magazine, pushing the next pellet into the chamber. When the underlever is cocked, the tube retracts backwards to the rear of the gun. This leaves a hole large enough for a single pellet to fall back into the gun. It’s not actually in the air chamber, because the air charge is forced through the tube which moves forward behind the pellet when stowing the underleaver. The tube acts like a bolt, in a bolt action.
Good point on chronographing the gun before changing anything, but I still have to disassemble it to remove the pellet. I guess it is bad term on my part to say “barrel droop”. Since the gun seems to shoot ok with the iron sights that are mounted on the barrel. I either have an issue between the barrel and scope rail, or the mount is too high like you suggested. I have a set back scope mount that attaches to the upper 11mm portion of the rail. This might cause the scope to be too high. I shimmed the scope on the back mount to help but it is still near the upper range of the elevation adjustment.

I did the same thing you did unloading and de-cocking. Did't worry with it. I'm sure it flattened out. Hasn't made a difference. Mines a .177, love it! Keeper!
I mounted a Simmons 30mm 3-9x40 scope on top of a Weaver one piece SPR 48377W see-thru mount.(it has inserts if you want to put a 1" tube scope in it) Works good, I can use the open sights also. Walmart has both. About $50 for the scope, $25 for the mount. Don't tighten real hard on the mount screw, it'll strip. Walmart gave me a new one.
Got a AK/SKS canvas sling with the leather tabs on the ends on it . The olive green looks good with that stock's finish IMO. Enjoy, Tim.

The Weaver mount I mentioned is offset enough and it's weaver/pictinny. All the Hatsan with their picatinny rail need an off set mount.

My 25 cal refurb had the same problem. There were several flattened pellets in the chamber and the gun was inoperative as received. I managed to get 2 pellets out using a dental pick but there were more in there preventing the gun from being cocked.
I returned the gun to Hatsan and got it back several weeks later in working order. We don't live in a perfect world and I can accept that but the part I found irritating was the fact that I received an inspection checklist along with a paper showing velocities for 10 shots. It was total BS!! No way was this gun fired before they shipped it to me or they would have known that the gun was inoperative from the pellets being in the chamber.
I figure they slipped in the check list and velocity sheets from the first shipment. I suppose they thought they were being slick but they were caught red handed this time. I asked about this when I returned the gun for repair but they ignored me. I haven't bought a Hatsan since.
It now shoots well and produces moderate power. H&N FTT 19.9 pellets average 646 fps and JSB Match 25.3 at 595 fps.

Puttin the Proxima away uncocked: When I' done shooting and the gun is empty I pull the cocking lever back, remove the magazine, load one pellet in the mag., insert the mag. into the gun, move the lever back forward so the probe pushes the pellet into the chamber. Then pull the lever back, remove the mag., push the lever forward and shoot the gun and put it away.
Make sure you keep the gun level or pointed down so the pellet doesn't fall out and thru the transfer port into the compression chamber. I did that once and as I said above it flattened out, I'm sure, an hasn't caused a problem. That must of happened several time with the gun above that was returned. Hatsan must have not checked anything when the first owner sent it back.
Did you check the serial number to see if they sent back the same gun?

No, I didn't think about checking the SN when I got it back. I know it's the same gun though because it has a small gouge on the side of the compression tube that makes it easy to identify.
I wasn't too happy when I first saw it but it is a refurb. I have no idea how the previous owner managed to gouge it like that.
