Brass Brush Down the Barrel

What's your thoughts on scrubbing the TJ barrel with a brass brush and of coarse followed with a proper clean up?
The barrel would be removed.
There's a fellow getting outstanding groups with his .30 Flex and recommends this process. I think he stated in the video he does a good cleaning every 150 shots.
Any thoughts?

I will use a brass brush on a problem barrel without hesitation. But this should only be a rare occurrence. If you find you need a brass brush frequently you should look into lapping the barrel.

TJ barrels are 4130 Chromoly so it's no problem to use a brass brush on them.

I agree a brass brush will not hurt the barrel. That is unless debris, grit, or an oxide gets into the bristles, but that holds true for any cleaning implement.
However what is the reason given? An airgun barrel shooting lead pellets should come clean easily with cotton patches and a penetrating cleaner.

HAve often wondered why one accurate barrel collects fouling and another seems to keep on going. Not disparaging the foulers, they can shoot great when kept clean.
As there really is no lead-melting heat in a PCP system, the only difference would have to be bore smoothness/friction. It's not melted on, it pretty much has to be abrasion.
Have a few with bores large enough to take an inexpensive (adds to your phone) bore scope...might be able to get a visual. Too sheap to sacrifice a good smooth non fouling barrel, but there are a few cut-off odds and ends about the place that would serve (but darn if I'm going to split them lengthwise with a hacksaw).
Can't see how a brass brush would be a real harm ....can't see how it would be a help to one that seldom fouls and cleans with just a patch or two.

I have never seen a need to use a brass brush on my TJ barrel, but I only shoot lubed soft lead through it. A few pulls with a tight patch wetted with cleaning lube does the trick on mine.

I asked Mike (Sayers) this very question as my .308 seems to lead up quite a bit, likely given the size Im shooting and volume???
He saw no reason not to, and Ive had good luck and time doing it this way. In contrast, my TJ .300 barrel pellet shooter requires very little.

There is NO issue what so ever using a brass brush in a TJ bbl. As per Mike at TJ's..
Where an issue can come it, is when abrasive particles becoming embedded in the cleaning rod itself. This is doubly true when a bbl has to be cleaned from the muzzle. Yes, a muzzle guide can help, but it cannot help the abrasion caused by a flexing rod with embedded abrasive particles along its length.
The worst offenders are the soft alu. rods that can be screwed together. The coated rods can be an issue as well. Some are (in benchrest circles) cautioning against the popular carbon fibre rod, as the epoxy matrix can hold abrasives.
The only rods I am aware of are polished hard stainless rods. And they are expensive! With them, the muzzle still has to be protected.

After purchasing my Extreme .457 I ask Brent about cleaning the barrel. All Extreme Airguns have TJ barrels ( my understanding ) Brent told me to use a wet cotton patch with Liquid Wrench then a few dry patches, last shoot one time to blow any cleaner and or debris out of the gun. Do not dry fire shoot a slug!!
I clean my bbl after ACCUARCY starts to fall off or before a hunt. I clean, then test for ACCUARCY.

Guess I wasn't real clear.
If a barrel needs a brass bursh to stay clean, then use it. IF another doesn't need anything but wet/dry patching, why brush it?

Bob, where to buy not expensive .177 borescope/ endoscope ?
Adding the little tube is good idea how to push through the rope thru the baffles area.
Notice
I afraid to use brass brush at crown and also from the front side and if O-ring exist at the pellet chamber .
