Dr. Haj

Have you ever considered a barrel swap something with a higher twist rate or longer

HP kit, adjustable Reg, larger bottle, and a
The right barrel = :-) and $$

I need to do some digging and research

I do want to qualify that of the 27 different types of slugs shot from the Umarex Gauntlet they were all in .22 caliber ranging from .216 to .219 sizing.
I have for my own satisfaction fit other barrels to the Gauntlet and they performed well, as one would expect but i am laser focused on another approach which may prove to be more... versatile lets say.

The issue as with most hobbys is when are you crossing the sensible line when it comes to investment in an entry level PCP. Because most people reading this post right now are not the buy it and use straight out of the box type people, most of you know the answer to the question I posed regarding "sensible investment"  ;D

LOL... that's a good one Hajimoto. I've probably invested enough into my .25 cal to buy 2 other ones at this point. Now my latest findings are the barrel to receiver interface isn't good. was going to get a LW barrel fitted to mine, but local machine shop wanted way too much to fit it.
My last test with NSA 26.8 in were grouping 1.25" at 52 yards. I'm well beyond the sensible line with mine, but now its a matter of making it a laser. Winds a re down here today so need to get setup and get the scope dialed back in.

hajimoto, its good to see that you haven't stopped tinkering with the gauntlets. I can just barely leave mine alone. Are you doing all calibers in your research? I'm hoping you'll have something good for the 25's.

This is great to hear.  You’ve been quoted on that without the qualifier, and I was slightly discouraged.

I’m going to be placing my order soon from you.

With just your kit I’m wondering what power levels to expect in .25.  If I can shoot 20/slugs I’m content with that.

Here is a 2 mags string from my .25 outta the box. With exception of 22CI bottle

I’d like to set this up as slug gun, thinking of putting in FX liner

What’s your process in fitting new barrel in gauntlet

scion19801:
been thinking on that a few times myself bunnyboyz. the best way i can see to do it, is to have a thimble machined to fit around the fx liner and at the same time have the shroud capture ring at the receiver machined as one piece, that the liner would slide into. This would then still be setup similar to factory and use the shroud to tension the barrel and help keep it in place. then open the barrel area of the receiver for the new thimble. but the down fall there would be needing a new thimble to re-fit the factory barrel.
But this would allow the Use of any caliber fx liner. And if the thimbles were made properly in the chamber side you could probably get away with not having to change the bolt probe.

Bunyboyz:
Ordered the 600mm FX Superior liner today

Who knows when the heavy liners with heavier twist rates will appear.

These should be ideal for the fx hybrid slugs I have on order and  for the lighter weight slug sample packs.

- now I just need to see how much of Haj’s stuff I can order at once

I’m looking at thimble specs. Rallycross has done it on Hatsan but I still need to verify find proven gauntlet specs
