Im working on a new booster pump that takes shop air up to what ever pressure you like. Im not sure where it fits in todays market place with personal compressors being so inexpensive except you can fill big tanks with the booster pump or fill guns much faster and cooler with the booster. Im really asking the forum Does it have a market thats worth pursuing?
If you are planning on boosting from 150 psi to 3000+, you will be producing a lot of heat, and condensing a lot of water vapour.... This will be worse if you do it in one stage, which is why HP compressors have 2 or 3 stages.... I'm not saying it can't be done, but one of the advantages of boosting HPA from 1000 psi to 3000+ is that the HPA you are starting with (in an SCBA or SCUBA tank) is already dry, because it was compressed to 3000-4500 psi, and as it was used up, it expanded and the relative humidity dropped.... Recompressing it doesn't have moisture problems, like you would get compressing shop air for the first time.... Just something to think about....Bob
Wasn't there something similar out there (Shoebox?) that recently closed the business. My thoughts are that there are a number of sources available for PCP compressors capable of reaching 4500 psi today. My main concerns are maintenance (DIY), parts availability, system longevity, and ease of use. For me running two compressors is moving backwards - kind of like running water cooling from a bucket. It all works in the end I guess.
Are you talking about a motorized booster (compressor, like a Shoebox), or a pneumatic amplifier?
