Noon forecast is moving farther south of TB area, still looks like the center path is 30-50 miles east of our house, so that is better than this AM. Unfortunately from Tampa Bay south the coastline is pretty heavily populated. Did a walk through this AM and videoed all of the PB's, air guns, Thermal Scope, etc. Also the 9X42CNC mill, 6X29 mill, 14X40 lathe, 6X18 surface grinder etc. I don't think they will be in danger of flying off, but if the roof goes there will be lots of water damage. I told the wife if it didn't change course we were leaving in the AM. She said, "NO WE'RE NOT!". So time to check the generator, fuel up, and make final preps. I don't understand her logic, she saw what happened when the hurricane went through south of Marianna a couple of years ago when that storm just missed her mom and step-dad in Sampson, Al.Funny thing is it's tracking closer back to the original European model that was forecast late Friday and Saturday. Getting closer to Charley's track.
When you have to evacuate every couple of years because of a big storm you become fatalistic. How many of you occasionally lock the door to your house, get in your car and drive away thinking “What will we come back too? Will our home even be here?”That’s an ugly fact of life in Florida. If you’re smart you don’t sweat it. Possessions are just things to be replaced. After Michael I couldn’t even find where my grandparent’s house had stood in Mexico Beach.Don’t mean nuthin. Move on.So make your plans, lay in your supplies, pack your car, board up your house. Whatever. But get to your safe place and throw a party!Or you can sit and fret and worry until the thing blows itself out. Ain’t gonna help none.If any of ya’ll Yankees think Florida is just too dangerous. I agree with you! Much safer back up north.
I was just up in Lake City. There were hundreds of power company trucks.
