My FWB Sport came in this afternoon. Unpacked it and gave the pivots a quick shot of moly oil and proceeded to shoot it. It looks better in hand than in pictures. Cocking is nowwhere as easy as my old 124, I had an injury to my left hand so to get it broke loose from the locking detent I to figure which way the sight adjustments work but after that got it dialed in nicely. I may just leave it with the factory sights for a while, honestly they are the best I have seen on any rifle, placement is perfect for me, both the front sight, rear notch, and target are in focus. I can thank cataract surgery last year for that. Outside temp and humidity was getting high enough to be uncomfortable so my shooting was not in top form, but even making multiple adjustments on a target I could see sub 3/4"groups at about 15 yards, many appear much smaller. I do have a Hawke Airmax 2-7x32 and some Sportsmatch rings reserved for it as well as an Anshultz diopter on order so will see which I like the best.

That's great, Jeff. I really like the Sport, though it ids a very different rifle than the vintage 124s, of course. Plus one on the factory sights. Love 'em.

I mounted the Hawke Airmax 2-7x32 I had gotten for it this afternoon. I shot at a 10 meter pistol target primarily because of the small red center dot, at abut 15 yards. First shot was touching the red just off center, best I have ever done mounting a scope. Took just a few minutes to walk it over to where I wanted the pellets to impact. Then nailed a red wasp that was going under the sawhorse where I have my pellet trap/target holder

Nice shooting. That's the kind of out of the box accuracy I've gotten with the Sport, too. The only break in on mine was with the cocking effort/smoothness. I did grease the pivot from the get go as suggested by AoA. Definitely easier and smoother to cock now after several tins of pellets.

I had put a drop of oil, Mobil 1 20w-50 on the piviot when I got it. Tonight I put a little dab of moly grease on the sides where the barrel pivots, and the pivot linkeage, working it in with my fingers, messy, and a little on the detent. Worked it back and forth to distribute what got in the tight spaces. It does seem to make it smoother, but still takes a bit of a bump to make the barrel disengage via the detent, then it is almost too loose.

The “bump” works itself out over time.
The rifle is a bit overpowered IMO but mine is dead nuts accurate and has a shot cycle more akin to a .22LR then an air rifle.

Yes, I know about the bump, from my FWB 124 which I got new about 48 years ago. It's just bothering me a bit as I have a left hand injury, and I usually use that hand for cocking. Right now it is a bit uncomfortable, but I will get through it.

My Sport has a custom spring guide. It made the already perfect rifle even better. I consider it the BEST breakbarrel in my big collection.
Feinwerkbau sells a white grease lube in a small pointed tube for lubing pivot points. This is what I use and it seems to perform great in ALL my rifles.
The factory iron sights are so perfect I decided not to scope this rifle. I have plenty of other scoped breakbarrels to play with. It's alot of fun to see the incredible accuracy that is possible with conventional iron sights when they are mounted on a work of art like the Sport.
Enjoy your treasure.

I put a scope on it just to see what it could really do. Scope was an Airmax 2-7x32. At lower powers I did see the front sight too much, but I agree with you the factory irons are so good the scope is coming off.

I have mine scoped but the factory irons are excellent and I’ve thought about going back to them and that is coming from a guy who doesn’t generally love leaf type rear sights.

I took the scope off and went out to shoot my soda cans, about 15 meters. It's really hard to miss with those sights and I do not have it fine tuned. The way the Germans label u/d, l/r tends to confuse me

I wish that they had made the front sight to be able to change to a different insert. I like a double diopter and actually plink with one in an Anschutz front globe on my 124. and a Weihrauch 77.

Me, too. That front sight groove is slightly larger than the one HW uses, so I wasn't able to use one of the HW globes I have. If you can find an FWB globe from one of their target guns, that would probably work, though.

I found an old Anschutz globe. I need to clean up the rails before trying it, as they seem to have some rough spots/galling. A little diamond hone and some ceramic triangular files should do the job nicely. then some touch up blueing.

Any guidance on how to properly adjust the trigger.. The apparent German to English translation in the owners manual does not seem to make a lot of sense to me.
