I'm at my shooting area early this Wednesday morning . I decided to leave the PCP's at home and bring out my "little" Winchester 1100S in 177 caliber, shooting old style Monsters at about 725 fps. No running out of air, just break open the barrel, load 'er up and let her rip !!
Haven't shot this gun in a few months and I forget what a joy it is, especially for the $54 I paid for it. (I did look and with the 10% discount it still is $54 smackers, a heck of a deal) !
This is one of my two 1100S's -- this one has a Reflex Red Dot, the other a super cheap 4x scope, both work fine. I might add the factory iron sights are very, very nice. If you don't want to add a scope or anything else for aiming, the factory iron sides are fantastic.
This is really a fantastic gun for the sub $60 price point. She is powerful, accurate, has a robust construction and is smooth shooting :-) --- Just wish I could find extra piston seals :-)
I'm shooting around 35 yards - smacking cans, dirt clods, twigs and whatever else I see around. Easy peazy shooting - lots of fun - no muss, no fuss - what a nice gun ! For me, the fact that the Bear Trap can be removed is a huge deal, I must be able to uncock all my airguns and that is especially important in a springer !!
Ya, she is a big gun, but when fixed up, what a great stand in the corner, ready for action, small pest gun with plenty of poop. -- Ask me how I know :-)
It is approaching 7am and it is already getting hot out here so I'm heading to work, will be out Friday !

It's Thursday morning a little after 6am.
It's already about a 175゚on the desert floor out here in California, the humidity is so bad I'd be drier if I was swimming !
I set up a few targets around 30 yards out and let the lead fly.
Most of you know this gun is about as long as a two year-old boa constrictor and about as heavy, but this gun has a lot of redeeming qualities.
1) It is CHEAP
2) It is POWERFUL
3) It is a very simple spring mechanism
4) It has very good IRON SIGHTS
The gun is built very, very sturdy - The one downside is where do you find a replacement piston seal ? ---- If someone can make them or if you can find replacements you're in like flint !
(With the Crosman Optimus you can get extra parts including piston seals and factory springs, but the gun costs well over twice as much)
In my limited experience with this gun I have not heard of piston seals breaking.
Being that the gun is so robust and the main spring is not under a lot of preload -- the spring is long, (the compression chamber on this gun is pretty long so there is probably a lot of swept volume), so this gun should last a very long time and could be a very good emergency food getter if the need should arise !
Will Chrno this gun when I get home after work as Chrno had an attitude today
Beeman's zipped through a steel corn can at 30yds.

I have my newly opened iron sighted Winchester 1100 S out this morning, testing it out shooting Classic Monsters, shooting around 35 yards. I love the iron sighted Winchester 1100S's.
I just took the Reflex Red Dot off my other Win 1100S, to much bother to use when iron sights are just super simple and they work. I'll keep the little 4x scope on the other just because it is already on :-)
Both guns are smacking stuff around the 35 yard range. This gun has the poop to shoot pellets on a pretty darn flat trajectory. These are very cool pesting guns at a very inexpensive price !
The gun with the Reflex Dot needed quite a bit of adjustment but I got her on target.
I need to do some trigger work on the new iron sighted gun. The Old Reflex sighted gun's trigger is very good.
When I get home I will check my pellet supply, I may have about 10+ cans of Classic Monsters, and if I do I will use those in both these guns, as they have the energy going around 700 fps.
Be back out tomorrow.

I'm loving this series of posts. I can feel the enthusiasm all the way from the California desert here in upstate NY. Thanks, William!
