Yeah... I grew up in Colusa county. I really miss being able to shoot any time I wanted to. *sigh*If you ever want to get together to shoot, let me know. It seems like there aren't too many of us in NCal.
Motorhead, do you live by Placeville? years ago, friend of mine took me to Hwy 193, almost all the way to Georgetown, there was a 2 miles dirt road that took me to National Forest. If I remember correctly that place is called. Bald mnt. or Bald Eagle mnt...I hunt squrrels and quails and varmints there but there are a lot of dirt bikers riding almost all day. just becarefull not to get ran over when you walk on dirt trails. they ride fast !
I wanted to share this with anyone else living within Sacramento City Limits that might want to research the legal use of air guns. From Sacramento Municipal Code:"9.32.070 Discharging air guns in city. || It is unlawful for any person to carry or use any air gun for the purpose of discharging or from which are or may be discharged bullets, shot or missiles of any kind within the city limits, except in licensed shooting galleries. (Prior code § 48.01.008)""9.32.140 Firearms—Use for certain purposes. || The provisions of the preceding section as to the use of firearms shall not apply to peace officers in the discharge of their official duties and using reasonable care, nor to persons using firearms in necessary self-defense, or in a careful manner for the purpose of destroying noxious animals upon land owned or occupied by them [my emphasis], nor to persons using the Sacramento Trap Shooting Range in Del Paso Park, nor to persons using the Mangan Rifle and Pistol Range, nor to persons using the shooting ranges at the California Army National Guard armories at 1013-58th Street, 3250 Meadowview Road, and 440 Arden Way, nor to gun/rifle ranges authorized and established pursuant to the comprehensive zoning ordinance of the city, nor to persons lawfully using such gun/rifle ranges. (Prior code § 26.01.022)"I stopped and talked with some folks at the police station, and they confirmed:1. You CANNOT use your air gun within City limits to plink, target-shoot, or hunt for sport.2. You CAN use an air gun to dispatch "noxious animals" on your property (rent or own). So, I can't target-shoot outside of my house or garage, but I can shoot the pigeons, or wild cats attacking pets.As always, if we're safe and respectful, we might get codes changed to allow outdoor shooting with approved traps and backstops.
RETATCDUDE, thx. Oh! when you mentions archery, it is bow hunt only right. not a crossbow?
