Crosman 2100/2200/766 Stock Repair

I have fiddle-farted around with this off and on for a long time.
Many latter day Crosman pumpers for sale out there have stocks that wobble to some extent.
This ALMOST always indicates that 1 or both of the stock clevis ears inside the receiver are either cracked or broken.
Gluing the cracked ear is an exercise in futility, as there is not much sir ace area for bonding and the stresses can be pretty sizeable.
So, here is what I have come up with in order to stabilize the ear after gluing the crack:
A piece of 1/8" x 1/4" wide steel trip is cut and formed to about a .550" inside diameter horseshoe with straight legs about 3/8" long or so.
It is then super glued over the outside of the ear. So far this has kept the crack in check...
An easier to make U-clip can be made using a 1/4" or so long piece of 5/8" OD x .035" wall steel tubing.
Cut a 3/8" long section out of the OD using a Dremel, then straightening the ends into the U shape, and glue on as before.
I always rough up the plastic and the metal surfaces to hopefully achieve a better bond.
I am also working on a flange bushing for the ears for these holes for a stronger fix.

That's about the only solution. Besides gluing washers over both sides.

Can't glue a washer on the outside unless the ID is large enough to fit over the bosses at the base of the post in the receiver........
Inside of flange only. That's where the flange of my bushing is gonna go, and be JB Welded in.
The inside surface of the ears is not parallel with the outside. That is to say, the thickness of the clevis ears gets fatter as you near the stock,
Inserting the flange bushing into the bores will leave a slight gap at the receiver end. Easy enough to fill with JB (hopefully....

My 13/32" counterbore w/.330" pilot does a great job of opening up the plastic holes so I can glue in bushings.
This repair used super glue gel, but JB Wels will offer a more substantial end result.
The U-bracket over the outside distributes the stress evenly over the entire outside of the clevis ear to make re-cracking less likely.

Looks like the making of a great fix. That JB is some tuff stuff. A couple years ago I knocked a Porter cable cordless nail gun off a balcony while doing spindle work. Major breakage where the battery connects. built up the broken section and it's still rock solid to this day. Good luck!
