Do yourself a favor and get some cutting oil too, it'll save you a lot of headache in the future. I like tap magic for most everything but A9 works a little better on aluminum.
I would look at Hanson taps and dies, but just get a small set here and there as you need them. The Harbor Freight taps and dies are extremely worthless in my experience, half of them were absolutely unusable with missing or barely cut teeth and the steel was terrible.

I've bought several sets of their dies and they all worked perfectly. If you bypass cutting fluid or don't break threads often, they get torn up, just like my overpriced Rothenbergers.

Cheaper dies and taps with quality cutting oil and good technique can take you a lot father than high-end taps and dies without cutting fluid or technique.I have everything ranging from DRMO-milspec to Harbor Freight cheapos. The stuff I reach for the most is my Rothenbergers and Starrett stuff... But I was also a Navy machinist mate with MTO school.
