From reports I've read on it, 30FPE is where this gun likes to run.   A nice medium powered 22 cal.  :)  While I'm sure it can be detuned, you may find the process time consuming and possibly frustrating, like you had with the Prod.  If looking for 20FPE, it may need more extensive mods.  Maybe leave this one at 30FPE, given you already have two at the 20FPE range.  A very good hunting/pesting tune.

How did you tune it to get there (hammer spring adjustment, port restrictor setting, etc)?
What pelllet, what is the start PSI and PSI for the 50 shots, also min and max velocity?

Using JSB .22 18.13gr.

Out of the box, highest tranfer port setting, first factory string started with a respectable flat 24 shots just over 900 FPS and made it to 35 shots @ 2.3% ES.

Clipped one wind off the spring and pulled 50 850FPS shots. That was it, done, least effort tune I have ever done.

Troy has more tricks for power, but you'll have to work a bit.

This was the last straw, mine is on the way. I never had much desire/need for a bullpup, but with a nice wood stock, side lever, and potential for this kind of unregulated shot string, the bullpup aspect is just a bonus.

Thanks to lordinvincible for posting this bargain!

I canceled my order for a .22 Akela.
An unregulated PCP it's almost as hard to adjust as a springer.
I need a PCP that I can easily adjust velocity for and get many shots at a constant velocity.
50-60 shots out of a 280 cc air tank is not a lot, but probably better than the Marauder.

The main things in Akela's advantage are:
-Crosman 5 year warranty as long as you do not change the air gun
Out of the box you get a descending shot string because the hammer spring is too strong.
To change the shot string you need to decrease the hammer spring strength which means opening up the gun and replacing the spring with a weaker one, or cutting some coils.
This will likely void your warranty.
-great looking stock
I like the beautiful stock, but this is a bullpup, a hunting gun that you need to be very careful with so you don't scratch it.

None of the Akela's advantages are related to its performance.

The Benjamin "Craftsman" air guns are unregulated and like any unregulated PCP hard to adjust to the velocity you want and get many shots.
And even if you mod them to make them shoot the way you want you will void the Crosman 5 year warranty, which is one of the main reasons to get the gun.

John, that is probably the right decision for you and your gun uses.  It is hard to pass on a good sale.

For me, the best thing about the five year warrantee is that it will make sure parts are available 5 years after the model is discontinued.  Given its crosman, probably longer.

After the initial period where they will pay return shipping, it is mainly a security blanket for those that donít want to do their own repairs.  If you diy it, they will usually send you the parts if you explain and/or send pictures.  To date, I have never seen them look for an excuse to cancel the warrantee.

I hope you find another BF deal that better matches your needs.

John, thank you for your help.
I will not buy a springer or unregulated PCP anytime soon :)

I am itching to buy another airgun but there are no deals anywhere.
Many times there aren't even airguns at MSRP prices.
Who would have thought this can happen 2 years ago?

If you bought one of the Akelas on sale, you may want to pick up some extra mags while the 25% sale is going on.  Just a thought.

Can't find Akela .22 magazines on the Crosman website.  Does it use the Marauder magazine?

Edit:  Nevermind, they call it "Collection magazine"

The .177 mags show as being out of stock, but the .22 and .25 look like they are in stock.  I didn't even think about getting an extra when I ordered earlier this morning, so I don't know if they were in stock at that time or not.

While diddling around this cyber Monday, I found that Midway USA has the .22 magazines in stock for $13.49 with free shipping over $49.  https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1022925551?pid=508032  for those interested.  Opened my Akela box today and it had 2100 PSI on the gauge, nice dark walnut (could use some additional finish to bring out the wood better).  It'lll be some time before I get to actually test it out.

My .177 Akela arrived today!  ;D  It had a full fill of 3000 psi and is shooting 10.3 grain AA Pellets at 1065 FPS.  Two full magazine and it was still just above 2000 psi!  Accuracy isn't that great, but the barrel hasn't been cleaned and it's only had 20 pellets through it.  I suspect it will improve as it breaks in.

I find it interesting how some arrived with no air in the cylinder, others were half full and this one had a full cylinder!  I also noticed it didn't have the customary QC Target you get with other Crosman produced air rifles.

Troy has more tricks for power, but you'll have to work a bit.

Did you have to remove the anti-tamper device to access the hammer spring?

Unfortunately mine is shooting hotter and less consistent, ~970 FPS to start with H&N 18.13gr pellets but ~5% ES on first 12 shots and 10% ES on first 24. I'm pretty sure I need to cut at least one coil to get a more usable shot string. I tried the power adjuster but I just got lower powered shots and not much better ES.

I was able to just push the pin out and the adjuster came out.  Maybe the anti-tamper is just for the EUR version?

I had a lighter spring (smaller wire dia) which I cut to the same length as the OEM.  At 7 turns on the pre-load (just shy of coil bind) I am getting a low 800's string.  I haven't found any good replacement candidates yet, so cutting coils from oem one, is probably what I will do.

I am pretty sure the accuracy will not improve a lot with the velocity near the speed of sound.  I would turn down the power and shoot some groups in the 900's to 1k fps, or try heavier pellets.  The accuracy in my Condors .22 and .25 always goes south once I go past 1,050 fps.  Below 1050 they are tack drivers especially with heavier pellets.  The only pellet that shoots well for me past 1050, but only up to about 1062-1063fps, is the .25cal 31gr Kodiak/Baracuda.  When they go >1065 the groups open up.

Mine came yesterday. Dads here, we adjusted the trigger and looked it over last night. High scope rings came too so we installed thst.
Chrono will start in a few.
Hope the knockouts come soon.
Interested in the spring mod

How do you adjust the trigger?  Is there a video or instructions?  The manual does not mention anything.
My Akela .22 came in today and the trigger has ZERO travel.  It breaks right away as soon as you put your finger on the trigger shoe.  It's a hair trigger and I know I am going to be discharging it prematurely all the time.  It's 1lb pull at the very most.  I have 1.5 and 1.8lb triggers and this feels much lighter.  I would say around 0.7-0.8 lbs.  You touch it and boom.  It has zero 1st stage :(
