I use a coleman cooler filled with probably 5 gallons of water. I put frozen 2 liters in there.
I don't want to waste water. It stays coldish long enough to top off the scba tank.

Daggonit....
My Vevor (YH knock off) was getting weak last time Don and Paul visited so I bought a new YH and have been using that.
This morning I had a plan to bring the Vevor to the mancave and fill guns with it. Got it all plumbed and plugged in and put a dead head in the fill whip. I ran it up to 3k and shut it down. Not bad, a bit slower than new. No weird noises or what not.
Fired it back up for a second try and it wouldn't go past 1k.
Welp, time to order a kit I reckon.

I set up my workbench yesterday for my YH rebuild today. Took it all apart to see what I needed, everything looks fantastic but I am going to check to make sure that the motor is not actually a 220 motor and not the 110 as advertised. Getting the three hard Rings over the top of the second stage is going to be a chore, I'm told I need to boil all three of the green rings and all three of the black rings in water for about a half hour to get them hot enough and softene them up enough to get them into the grooves.
I think I will also turn a cone out of Delran so that I can just roll the Rings write up the cone on to the shaft so I don't have to put extra pressure on one side or the other of the Rings by using the needle nose pliers scratch method.

FYI.... the Vevor is not the same guts as the YH... That kit I showed is for the YH. Fortunately, I also had a kit for the Vevor.
So I dug in. I'm normally not a lucky guy when I comes to this kinda stuff so, I did not take pics along the way..... sorry..
First I drained the oil and discovered I had too much in it... It was above the red dot.
I took the SS lines off next and then the piston head. Man, what a gunky mess..... yeah, too much oil for sure..
So from there I went for the intake and exhaust block (for lack of better terms). These are the ones on either side where the bleeder screws are. Again, gunky mess. Cleaned all that out.
Next reply....

As I said, these 2 compressors have different guts.
The YH has 3 green rings with a dark layer surrounding them and the Vevor has a cone seal at the top of the small high side piston and it's held down with a screw. Again... a mess.
I didn't go any deeper. I didn't pull the finned jug off... just the head and top cylinder to expose the small piston. There is also a disc with a hole in it between the head and cylinder. Care must be taken to center this when putting the head back on.
The trick to putting the cone seal in....
Don't tighten it down with the retaining screw until you have the cylinder on. Put the cylinder over the small piston and tighten it down onto the finned jug. Then reach a flat head screw driver down in and tighten the retaining screw for the cone seal.
Next center that disc and put the head on.
Then I put it all back together.
Next reply....

At first it was slow to build pressure and I thought I failed.
Not wanting to give up yet, I took the brass plug and nut out of the top of the head and turned the compressor on. It blew air out of the top of the piston.
I put the plug and brass nut back in and fired it up again...
SUCCESS !!!! It built pressure like it was brand spanking new. Must had some of that gunk in there.
I noticed that I had a Maximus the was on zero... slow leak.
After running the compressor several times with a dead head and bled it off to clear all oil and moisture out of the lines, I hood up the Maxi. Took about 20 seconds to hit 2k.
So, for the rest of the weekend I'm going to tip toe because I believe Karma owes me a failure.... lol

I once rebuilt my double cylinder MRodAir MKII Extreme compressor. It had those 3 fiber rings. And you ain't kidding, those were a BEAR !!!
I have yet to do a YH with those green oring seals... I have no idea how hard it would be but I gotta say..
The Vevor was simple. At least as deep as I had to go in to fix mine.
The kit that came with it had 4 of those cone seals in it along with the larger oring seals that i didn't need to replace.... so, I guess I'm good for 3 more rebuilds in the future.
Hope this helps anyone with a failing Vevor compressor.... jump right in, it's not that bad at all.

Yupper, heading home from work and will start the water so I can boil some rings. I'll see if I have the same luck as you did with the rings (YH).

Thanks Bill. I changed tack and shot a several hundred pellets instead, I'll leave the seals for tomorrow and I am going to get a second stage piston with rings from eBay to have on hand to make the process faster for the next rebuild. I do have a "new" YH for backup and I will get that hooked up tomorrow and top off the tank which I shot down from 4k to 3k.
I got the 5 Blu-ray set of all the Die Hard movies in the mail and am going to throw the first one in the player after I fill the wood boiler, thanks for the nudge!

I've been running 4 gallons of water to keep mine cool. I only have 23 hours on it but I use it to top off my tank. It only takes about half an hour to top it off. Sometimes even less. I did change my gauge today. The factory one was trash. This gauge is just a small one I had laying around but at least it is accurate. I too got the 3 year warranty Bill and have been very happy with the product I received. And this was after having some cheap compressor woes. Having an air source is vital to this hobby/addiction.

Well...
Looks like I got a 'fake YH' for my first one. I just finished topping off my 65 sq ft bottle (3k-4k) in about 12 minutes, the new YH maxed out at only 40C/104F, was super quiet, the auto stop worked PERFECTLY and stopped the motor at 4k. The motor never got 'hot' like the first one and the oil is still clear.
The first one is very loud, took a half hour to top off the last tank, the oil is very dark and the motor overheats. I will rebuild her but she is going to become the spare now.

Now for some fun stuff...
Woke up this morning at 2:30am. Tossed around in bed but I couldn't go back to sleep. This is the first day of my 10 day Winter break from work and my mind wouldn't stop thinking about all I need, and want to do. So I got up and made coffee.
Betty Lou and the dogs got up about an hour later.
Went down to the mancave and snatched up the 30 min scba tank... it was down to 3k. I have the rebuilt Vevor in the mancave to fill guns directly. I have the new YH with the 3 year warranty here in the utility room in the house. I'm using that to top off tanks. My 60min scba was also down to 3k.
I topped the 60min off to 4k. It took a short 15 minutes <> and the temps went to 107F. After a short 10 minute break I hooked up the 30min tank. Topped that one off to 4k and around 12 minutes. Temp went to 112F.
