Does your scope have an adjustable objective? If not, the issue could be that your eye isn't in the exact same spot behind the scope. When I had my Titan, with the factory scope, I could shoot off the bench and it would be dead on. When I would stand up, it would be 2 mils low, but still group. The issue was, when I shot from the bench, my check weld was slightly different than it was when I shot standing. If your target at 40 is higher or lower than your target at 30, this may be your problem. But if you do have an AO, there is no logical explanation...

I have an old Tasco from the early 1970's. It is very clear but is a non-ao scope. It is parallaxed for 100 yds. It is not a good scope for airguns as it has significant parallax error at closer distances.Nod,Set you gun on a rest and aim it a close target (20, 30 and 40 yards). Look through the scope without touching the gun. Bob your head up and down, back and forth. Does the reticle stay on the target aim point? Or does it shift around. If it shifts, it is most likely the parallax error for that scope.
Thanks for all the help & suggenstions. It's raining today and is suppose to off and on all weekend. I did the parallax test suggested by Scotchmo and the reticle stays on target. It's a Tasco 630v 3 x7x20 scope. I will do a thorough test the first decent day I get. Yes, I've chronied it several times and the 867 is pretty much the average over several hundred shots with different pellets. I'll try different pellets, different zero's, etc. I'll post the results.
I have a little mystery on my hands. I have my FWB 124 zeroed in @ 30 yds. with CPHP 7.9gr ammo. I recently cut some bushes back and now I have a 40 yd. range in the back yard. I set up a bench rest and I was expecting a drop in POI ( 0.74 per Chair Hawke) but instead I was hitting 1 1/2" high! I got a 3/4" group but how is it possible to be hitting that much higher. I should mention that the fps is 867 with this pellet. There was a slight cross-wind but that shouldn't affect rise .
