Well, I finally found this forum down here...idk how the heck I missed it? Anyway, as many of you already know, I've restored and modified my 1955-56 model run 160 Pellgun. No dates on serial numbers till July '75, so we have to look at no barrel band, stamped steel trigger guard, and the like to date them. I sanded down the stock, then got it smooth as glass with 600 grit emery paper.
Then added some sling swivel screws;
Then stained it with 2 coats of Minwax oil stain #231..."Gunstock". Gotta love that part?!
Then 5 coats of Tru-Oil in succesion;
then, after rust & bluing remover, rinses and some polishing, I blued all the metal, even the screws!
Then reassembling it all, a few times, till I figured out what the problem was! Polish the valve stem, and deburr and polish the edges of the black washer in the Crosman 1963 valve assembly upgrade!
And how it looked when I first got it reassembled;
And then, a member gave me the email of Mr. Ron Robinson, since he was the only one to make proper scope mounts for the 160/180/140 series;
And how it looks now, with the Centerpoint 4x32 scope zeroed @ 10 yards for a bench rest competition I was in;
The Rifle has shot a best so far of 660FPS/11.71FPE. Interestingly, the 660FPS came from Gamo Platinum PBA@ 9.7gr. While the 11.71FPE came from RWS superpoint extra @ 14.5gr. Would like to mod it further, but this one will take some thought and diassembly.

I just got this XP-tuned gas valve today that's been machined and reworked 6-ways from Sunday. Comes with a few new seals too. Supposed to be worth an additional 70FPS. So that 660FPS with the 1963 redesigned valve I'm currently using should go up to as much as 730FPS!? I'll do some testing to find out?
Original 50's valve, right. 1963 redesigned valve, left;

That is one good looking rifle! Love those old steel and wood crosmans both the CO2 and pumpers! What kind of accuracy are you getting?

Nice, Leonard! The scope mount is certainly an improvement over the Crosman intermount.

Thanks guys! Here's some targets I shot for an on-line 10yd competition. 3 Gamo targets, 10yds/M, and 3 shots each. I had to replace the Optima 3-9x32scope that fubared in the middle of shooting the previous week's targets with a spare, new Centerpoint 4x32. Had to adjust it literally a couple clicks on target #1. On targets 2 & 3, it shot exactly where I aimed it. Wonderful!
And yes, the Ron Robinson mounts are way better. He sold me the last set he had left from his original production run from his personal stash! Still have the emails. Here's the latest pic of the rifle;
