Title: 500 yards texan 257
Post by: SteveB on February 11, 2021, 10:43:19 PM
Got my new Texan 257 in last week so Saturday put me at the range. I'm shooting the arsenal mold 72 grain with gas check at slightly over 1000 fps. It didn't take long to get it shooting less than an inch at a 100 yards.  So I left it zeroed and plugged everything into strelok. So after shooting out to 300 I decided to try 500. So set up and strelok said 25.67 mil at that distance but I only had 19 up, so I held 7 mil over and first shot hit dirt out front of the target.I held another half mil and musta got it right a time or two.  I shot a total of 20 shots and four of the shots I didn't see where they went. So I drive down to the target and see 4 hits three were right at 2.25" apart.  The square plate is 12"x12" and my 500 yard target. The round was shot at 300 and measures 6" across. I can't wait for another range day here soon. Just got a noe 71 grain hollow point mold so I hope these are accurate as well.

Thanks everyone.  I just got back from a fun shoot today started at 205 yards and eggs where the target. I hit dead center of the first egg on shot number 4.  Then we moved out to 250 yards and a few near misses and finally I got that egg too. The texan 257 has to be the most accurate of the three I own. Can't wait to push farther.

They are fun, accurate, and awesome rifles!
