Pawn Shop Webley Vulcan

So I have this habit of stopping at pawn shops and since I travel for work, I see a wide variety. Some specialize in guns, musical instruments, car stuff... I always try to figure out their specialty and look for items outside of that realm.
This one was obvious: hanging on the wall I see what looks like an older euro break barrel with a sign taped to the stock saying " BB gun 177 was $80 now $56". No really, that is what it said. I kindly asked if I could take it down for a look and sure enough I discover it is an early Webley Vulcan. The metal is perfect, the stock has a nick or 2 and the rear sight is broken and half of it missing. I break the action and find it to be smooth as silk, breech looks fine. No rust on the thing anywhere.
Trying not to act excited I walked up to the counter where the young girl was trying to sell a high dollar drone to a customer. I held up the Webley and said would you take $50 out the door? She went to the computer, clicked away and made a face of concern, then muttered yes.
So I own this thing and found it has a very smooth shot cycle. Can't tell if it is accurate yet with no rear sight though. Serial number is 026130, stamped Beeman Precision, San Rafael CA.
I wrestle with scoping it or looking for a rail mounted rear sight as I am sure the original sight will be expensive or hard to find around these parts. I do think this will be a fun little shooter though.

As if I need another gun, I would have jumped on that as you did.
The rear sight unit is available from TW Chambers for 22 British pounds (guessing that would be about US$30 + shipping), HOWEVER, that sight unit from them is missing the elevation adjusting knob. It is the same sight unit used on a Webley Hurricane, and the listing on TW is for a Vulcan MKIII, which I am not sure is what you have.

Does it have a dovetail for a scope?
EDIT: There are two listed on Gunbroker right now for $170 and 175.
Nice score!!

Say $40 for the rear sight, you still got a bargain
. If it was mine, I'd put a 2X7 on it and shoot it, a bunch!

Many thanks for the replies. It does have a scope rail and for as smooth as it shoots I can't imagine much in the way of torture for a scope.

I just found an old post from serdac (here on GTA). Apparently he has a book that can date your gun. I'd send him a polite PM asking.
Here's the link to that post:
https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=3784.0#lastPost
Go to the very bottom of page 1 - he supposedly posted an image, but I didn't see it. Top of page two on that thread states the book he has.
Please let us know if you find out anything.

Sent him a PM asking for some help.
Based on the look of others I have seen here and online I am thinking this is an early one. It has no white line on the recoil pad and the stock is very plain. No concern really just would be fun to know its age. Don't think I am ready to flip it either as I just ordered a scope for it.

I wouldn't.
Part of what I love about this AG stuff is getting an oldie that is still considered a great shooter. I prefer to get them back as close to original condition as possible. I just did a similar thing as you when I bought an HW30 with an odd peep sight on it. Turns out it's a rare HW30S-X!
See here (my thread so I can say that there is a lot of BS with me trying to post pics, the good stuff is on page 3 which this link should take you to.):

Great find! I bought a .177 on a whim off Ebay and liked it so much, I bought a matching .22.

If it has a dovetailed receiver you could find a Williams peep sight to fit.

It does have a dovetail and I have looked at that sight. Just not sure if my old eyes will deal well with it. Sure would look cool though!
