lillysdad621,
Running hotter, in airguns all in the same model will have a small deviation in power so i may have gotten lucky and recieved one with a Tad more power. It has been cold out and the few days of warm weather was windy, so i havent been shooting much for 1.5+ months.
Thats abunch of work you got done on that i hope you get it up and running again soon. Fun little Air rifle this S3000c TAC 22.
For now i will keep the S300c TAC 22 with its full barrel. At a later time after running more shots through and testing a few other light pellets ill see about shortening the barrel, possibly to 14- 15" , but if it does good than i will leave the barrel as is. Ill see at a later time.
gloob,
Wow,,,,, 10", 8", 5" barrels that sound very compact. As it is the Tyro will not be shortened, i get very good results at 20 yards. The S3000c TAC 22 barrel might be shortened after more testing is done. If you guys would like to post pics of your Shorties i would like/love to see pics,, Being anything under 12.99 FPE i would consider to be low powered. SO if it makes less than 12.99FPE you may post about it here.
There are a few other air rifles ill be adding to this thread at a later time.
Thankyou lillysdad and gloob for adding great info to this thread. Ill gather more chrono data when weather and time allows.

Very compact? No, on mine. The shortest barrels I have without adding a shroud is around 12". At much under that length, I find even low powered springers generally get difficult to hold a steady sight picture and even worse, they get extremely hold-sensitive. So for springers shooting under 650 fps, you will increase the absolute accuracy by optimizing barrel length, but your practical accuracy will suffer unless you do some more work.
On my shorter rifles, I add a shroud of steel pipe about 13-14" long to correct these issues. Add 4" for the breech block, and my shortened rifles have the same length as a 17-18" barrel.
I've never had a Stoeger. No clue if they're constricted or uniform barrels. But I can't imagine that a springer shooting at 500 fps through a uniform barrel greater than 15" would group worth a darn. It's very easy to check, just by pushing a pellet down the bore with a rod.
One of these days, I will try simply boring out the end of a barrel a bit larger, to make the bore shorter but leave most of the mass. Just haven't figured out how I'm going to debur the muzzle after doing so.

Its like what BSA did with their springers... they were counter bored 4 inches, so if you looked at the muzzle of a say, meteor, it will have like a .30 cal hole. the crown was receded deep in there. you could just take a barrel and drill a larger hole on the crown (lathe) and then clean up the new, deeper crown with a long crown tool.

Yes that is feasable. Perhaps you will need to fabricate a special crown tool . It goes through my mind that a long oversized unrifled portion of the barrel could have consequences from fast moving air interfering with the pelket skirt and causing the pelket to get buffeted . Maybe the clearance would need to be a lot or a little .

S3000C TAC .22
Two days ago a nice warm 22 degrees with little wind i took out the S3000C TAC.22.
I shot around 20 times at 20 yard cans using HNEP 13.0gr. I then switched to CPHP 14.4gr.
Good fit, not loose or tight, good. I havent checked the accuracy just got the 10 shots through the Chrono. The 17 FPS spread is good, im sure the pellets will do good. Ill check on can performance, i have to wait till the melt begins to shoot at paper for accuracy.
