You might want to check the Pyramyd blog for a Mk4 Meteor report. This was the low point in BSA quality. "My Mark IV, on the other hand, is characteristic of BSA’s lowest days, when quality went out the window", as Gaylord put it. "Worse than low-end Chinese", as one commenter said. For some reason, Mk.4's are by far the most commonly available around my neck of the woods, and many are in really good condition, having been closet queens. Still, I would only take one if it was free, and even then would have second thoughts. The old Meteors are basically 10 fpe guns. I hear 12 fpe is already pushing it, big time.IV Meteor and quality really don't belong together. Painted instead of blued with a bad trigger. The stocks ain't pretty to my eye. Actually I think the Merlin was BSA's low point. But they are at least a little cool for a child's gun. Even though I can't stand a pop up breech. Get a Mk1Meteor if you can find one in the US and you have a very nice little BSAHere's mine
