Well, alrighty, then. The 95 with the dead ram has arrived.Pretty gun! Now, the fun begins.Back in this old thread: https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=196304.0mikeyb posted a table in reply #13 that gave stroke lengths for the Crosman NP and NP 2 rams. Both will have sufficient stroke length according to the table.I may make a short spacer w/nub to locate the cylinder end in the piston, then a spacer w/center shaft dimple for the breech end.The original Vortex ram has the large OD spacer and w/cross hole that lines up with the 3rd cross pin hole in the air tube but there was no pin in it as received.I believe I have lost a detent ball bearing from the safety....about par for me...I think it was a 3/16" dia ball.......More to follow as events unfold. One observation about Hatsan diagrams:They show the parts and assign reference #'s, but no listing of what those #'s refer to....i.e. no part names, part #'s or descriptions.....
It just dawned on me...........The Vortex ram has a long tail block with a large slot into which the Quattro trigger pack must fit??Looks like I gotta take that into account with the spacer I make for the NP.......HmmmmmmmmmmmMaybe I should part it off of the Vortex ram ??
Nah...not your fault mikleyb.Even after disassembling the critter I wasn't wrapping my head around the design....I may order that block from Hatsan. I'm not too keen on the $$$,tho...time to do some thinking.I may rather sacrifice the dead ram.I have a mortising machine that makes nice square holes in wood..........dunno if it would work in Delrin or not.Dunno if I have the correct size chisel or not....probably not.... I don't s'pose a wood plug would be too good........Maybe I can mill a slot in Delrin with my drill press and cross feed vise..... Always a solution to a problem.I had 1 pin fall out of the trigger group already, but there was only 1 hole available for it, so I hope I have salvaged the assembly in tact.I'll come up with a 3rd frame pin. No sweat.
What is the secret to opening up the Vortex ram?
NPs will work, just need to keep them centered and spaced with 1/8" -1/4" of preload.
