He was chucking stones really far with that thing. You could definitely take lots of smaller game with one of those, might be able to take deer too.

I bet with some time you could hit a dime at 75 feet.

I could save a bunch of money by making a 126" staff and a sling, with a bit of practice I could reach out to... Haha, just kidding. I'll stick with stuff that sends lead down a barrel. I'll be safer that way. So... Texan .257/.308, Seneca Recluse, Evanix Sniper .30, AEA Challenger, FX Power Pup or any decent/powerful .25's that may be decent with NSA slugs (or the like)?
Unless you can shoot PB ammo like copper jacket so it gets cheap (if you can find it).
Weight on this one is of no issue, as long as it's under 25lbs. (That's getting into custom bench rest stock territory). Figure 10fpe+ on target at 150 yards. That should cover everything I plan on taking, from cans to ground hog (maybe raccoon w/more power), and bigger critters at shorter range. Most slugs shot from guns 50fpe+ should exceed that, or even with pellets (according to Chairgun).I plan on buying ammo at first. I'm a big fan of NSA slugs, but currently they're out of .257 (with moving and all). But there are other options before I plan on casting my own. Accuracy is primary focus. I'd use my BT65 with NSA 15gr slugs (995fps/33Fpe average), but reaching out that far with those tiny pills doesn't quite work out reliably, especially with higher wind speeds.
Seeing I don't know better..Does that .257 pcp shoot stuff as this? Or do you need air gun "bullets". I guess you do need unjackted all leadhttps://avsslugs.com/product/2573-diameter-hollow-boat-tail-25-caliber-slugs-hollow-point-55-to-90-grains-120-count/
Can you shoot jacketed PB bullets in a Big Bore air rifle?

The pressures required to push jacketed bullets is much higher than air power can give. I looked hard on this one.Can you shoot jacketed PB bullets in a Big Bore air rifle?

I was kinda wondering in bullet choice the 30 cals would give you a wider selection in cast / molds. I remember the old junk yards use to have lots of lead the junkyard f guys collected and melted down and poured self made ingot's.Use to get it from them to make round ball ammo .
My Eagle Claw loves NSA .250 diameter slugs. Before my Chronograph died I made 70 FPE with a 33.5 grain NSA slug at 975 FPS. Since you have a higher budget then the Evanix .30 and Air Force .257 or .308 will serve you well. Casting ammo isn't just about availability or price, you can also get more accurate ammo this way. You can size the rounds to exactly fit your bore, and with a good powder coat you may even completely fill the rifling and not let any air get around the slug. I am 99% sure you cannot use copper jacketed ammo.

Most of the lead you will find out in the world is not pure enough for air rifles. You really need 99% pure, at least, to cast good quality air rifle ammo. A 26 lb lead brick is $56 shipped from Rotometals, and that's 182,000 grains of lead that can all be recovered and recast.

Haha, all this is madness Would be cool if it all works out. I'd just hate to drop $1K+ on a airgun (and another possible $1K on accessories over time) and have it not perform, not accounting for shooters mistakes. Having an airgun to perform these tasks would have some advantages... Going to have to chew on this one a while.
My favorite caster has a good .357 selection at very affordable prices and great qualityhttps://www.mattsbullets.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=65
