I’m totally stripping it again this morning because I was not happy with how it turned out. This time I will be using a gel based stain. The regular stain and sealer did not work well at all around the areas that I reshaped with sandpaper.
I’m calling this a FAIL. The first round of regular oil based stain really messes it up and I couldn’t get all the black stains from the uneven absorption on the wood. Switching to a gel based stain really was the way to go but it still looks like a pair of acid wash jeans. Anyway I did call Crosman and ordered a new stock. My wife has no sympathy for me at all because she told me not to mess with it (I should have listened! LOL). I was shooting for a dark color because that factory light brown just doesn’t do it for me. I might end up just painting this stock with a granite finish after the new stock comes in.
Tom thanks that’s the plan Dinh yeah I was thinking something in granite like this:
Yeah it’s just regular granite textured spray paint.
I wonder how well it will adhere to a synthetic stock? Looks like I may have another project, just need to figure out which gun will get an upgrade! Thanks!

Thanks! It may need a primer first on the synthetic stock to help adhesion so the paint doesn't peel off.Taso
