Dave- brother I have to agree that we need a "TEOTWAWKI" gate. I think the perfect game-getting airgun for survival is just a plain old factory disco, no scope-just the factory Williams sights- but with a nice Hill pump and a repair kit including parts for the pump as well as the gun. Only has to be pumped to 2,000 psi- i'd probably stick to around 1,800. I bet the combo would last as long as any cheap .22 lr as long as it's not abused....

" I would bring my b25 tuned by Mike Melick in .22 cal. shoots 5 in a dime at 25 yrds.As far that other gate, I think it would be the last thing we need. Too many people with tin foil hats and conspiracy theories will come out of the woodwork, leading to political craziness, leading to another gate being shut down because of too much arguing or bashing

I love da springers and have had PCP's, pumpers, CO2 etc.. I enjoy hunting with them since they are a provenhunting tool and folks are still amazed that a airgun can harvest critters. Ed
I have never felt the fuss I'm hearing here about springers since I learned how to properly shoot, tune and maintain them. I use my 2100 pumper now just to chase cats off because I can give it 2-3 pumps and it doesn't permanently harm the critter, just give it a pain in the bu##. But for real target practice or killing, I'll take any of my springers any time. They are on a day-to-day basis super simple. Break the barrel, put in a pellet. close the barrel, aim and shoot. Sure they require a little maintenance now and then but how many things do we own that don't.I have a real good friend that is into PCP and I can't believe what he has and goes through for using and maintaining them. Tanks, hand pump (that requires maintenance), electric compressor (that requires maintenance), hoses, adapters and couplers, trips to the fire station or a scuba air supplier, etc., and I have even heard him complain. His rifles are no quieter than mine if I use the proper pellets. After all, they either go supersonic or not don't they?My springers that have been tuned can go a year or 2 without any real need for maintenance and all I have to do is keep them clean and dry. I love them all and wouldn't part with any of them or even trade one for a PCP rig.Just my 2 cents.

I don't think it's the gun warming up- I think it's the shooter. The difference between achieving poa/poi and hitting an inch high at 20 yards could be as simple as having your hand a half inch away from where you held the rifle while zeroing it, or even just shifting the way the rifle is blalanced in your grip by just a little bit. It's enough to drive you crazy! Sometimes it makes me just want to squeeze her as tight as i can, and hunt inside 20 yards or less only! I'm with EMrider on springers and power level. I'd love to have a tuned HW50s, or better yet, an HW95 with a 12fpe Vortek kit. I have had a couple B19's that were pretty easy to shoot and that I didn't have to warm up to, however. Maybe that's the route I should take- get another .177 X10 and drop in a E3650, fresh seal, and GRTIII, and shoot only heavy pellets- only worry about spring damage when it happens. EDIT- But then, I still haven't experienced HW quality....
