It appears that Belton (Paradise), is close enough to Troy, S.C. and Anderson, S.C., that I can schedule going to this Event at the same time I visit with the Folks at Bryan and Associates and The Crooked Barn!:) If I'm not mistaken, I am only a 4-6 hour drive from these areas.?.

Will be well worth it and a great reason to get out the camping gear!

Only a little over 4-months away. Not sure I'll know how to act around so many other Airgunners? :o

Can't wait!

Thanks for the advanced notice! ;D

Al.

Any special reservations, or notice that needs to be given if you are going to pitch a tent?

Looks like only 214-miles to drive, not bad at all.

Regards,

Al.

Count me in, I'll be there.  The wife might not come this time since I left her in the hotel room all day....

Al, it isn't nearly as far as it seams, I get to Greenville in less than 3hrs, get a hotel, then back track 30 mins to Belton.

I hope I can make this! I'm already going to be passing by four times in the next three months! On the way to Atlanta next week, on the way home the week after and then the same at the end of March. Maybe I can hook up with someone driving down from Upstate NY to tote my guns so I can ride my motorcycle down.

That or sling a handful of rifles and pistols across the back. I'm sure that would go smoothly... :D

Possibly across the street at the abandoned factory. Gene might be able to check that. They never complained about us parking cars and trucks there.

Well, if you come, I'd just about bet you WILL shoot.
LOL
Really kinda hard not to. Although some accuse me of not taking trigger time.
:)
Just to remind everyone, I generally bring between 10-20 of my babies. If you see one in my rack that looks interesting, PLEASE feel free to grab it and give it a try. You will see all kinds, shapes and calibers there.  Many of our folks have an AWSOME collection of goodies!!! And most are glad to let you handle them.

With the tents, it is really first come first best spots. Look at the pictures from previous years. Gene SHOULD have ample space for whomever wants to camp.

NOT happening. We did that last year to help someone out. But I have my room reservations. NO changing of the dates. May wind up just being me, Gene and our wives. But the dates are solid!!!

Sweet i might be able to do this...  I didn't know about the previous meetings, also noticing that there are a BUNCH of SC folks that are into air-gunning..  Now i just got to get the approval from the "BOSS" being retired the schedule is not a problem, however accommodating the wife who still works is most important!! probably going to drag the camper and stay at Devils fork state park and make it a LONG weekend...  That way i can get in some Kayaking as well..

Title: Re: GTA Fun Shoot 2014
Post by: Mr_Sis on January 24, 2014, 08:38:01 PM
Canopy is good for shade and to keep sun off guns. We shoot at bells, paintballs, paper targets,Christmas ornaments, inflated rubber gloves and anything else we bring or think of. Gene also has a bunch of spinners too. Bring targets not bad to have on hand anyway.

Post by: gene_sc on January 25, 2014, 10:58:08 AM
Canopy's are an option. We only have enough room for about 15-6 full canopy's. We line them up along the shooting line. First come first server sort of speak. Some folks will have room to share. You can bring your favorite targets to shoot if you like but last year we had over 700 targets out there plus shoot n see stickers for the back boards.

Not even. As it stands, the police always visit anyway. But their visits are always pleasant. We don NOT want to change that. Plus the neighbors (inside the city limits) would probably have us put UNDER the jail.

I had gone to a shoot with my son in West Virginia.  At the end of the competition, the host loaded a cannon with a bowling ball and fired it off.  Very powerful, very loud, and once was enough for me.  The ball went into the woods about 200 yards away after going probably 200 or 300 feet high.  There were no close neighbors and it is a good thing.  As a side note, we were all shooting WWII fire arms from the US and Europe; and the targets were from 50 to 400 yards.

To answer the question:  The police, the neighbors or me?  <---Here, it would be my police department that would have trouble with that kind of joke.

Wow....shaping up to be some great raffle and door prizes available at the Fun Shoot. Already getting donation sent and promises by some. Will be some NICE airguns available to buy raffle tickets for.
How about a TAU-200 Senior Laminate? We're talking a retailing new for $850 Co2 target gun. :)
How about a new Trail NP Limited .22 with a GRT-III installed? And I'm thinking when I get this one in hand, since it looks like a Phantom style stock, seeing if it will slide into a Remington Summit stock. I will toss that in if the winner prefers a nice wood stock over the synthetic one.
How about a new Benjamin Regal Nitro? If it fits, will install a GRT-III in it too. I bet it will work.
How about a new Powerline Target Pro 953?
How about a custom made set of Walnut grips to fit the Crosman 13XX, 22XX, 23XX, 24XX series?
Oh, and rumors are there will be a new .25 MRod on the raffle table also. :)
Just getting started, I haven't even put out my request to most of our vendor/members. This year is shaping up to be a most excellent event. Dave (grumpy) and his wife Nancy have volunteered to cook up the Saturday meal. Should be most excellent.
I look to having more very good raffle items and hope to have at least one door prize for each attendee. Maybe more!!!
Make your plans to be there. Should be a most excellent time, as usual.
See ya'll there!!!

I am in the midst of some serious negotiations to take a couple of days to shake hands with some wonderful people I feel I've known forever!!
Being self employed I work for a major pain in the neck!!!
It's 1200 miles for me, but a nice drive might be just what the doctor ordered!!

Joe, you need to check you mileage man, it is only about 750 miles from South Jersey to Charleston.  I know I can get good flights out of Myrtle Beach to Atlantic City for less than $100.00 round trip.

I just did a Google Map search from Monmouth University to Belton, SC is 754 miles Taking I81 through the Mountains instead of I95 through the cities...

I am seriously considering making the trip myself- just can't decide whether to drive or fly. It will be expensive to fly, but time-consuming to drive, and it may be worth the extra money to fly, just because of the cost of gasoline these days. I have no idea where I'll stay, but thought I might just fly there, rent a car, and drive until I find a place to crash.

I really like the looks of that Retay and want one but not bad enough to take the trip there myself so was going to see if anyone from the great white north was heading to the shoot could pick one up for me...

Any time...come on out. I'm sure someone will be up and stirring if it's after daylight. :)
Happy Tom, please do come on out and we will help celebrate your birthday with you!!!

Looking at the calendar, I guess it's time for me to start begging. :)
If any members or member/vendors have something they would like to donate to the Fun Shoot for raffle, door prizes or supply any goodies to support the event, please let me know as soon as you can. Drop me an email or pm. I need to start rounding things up and make a list.

We already have donations by David (grumpy) of an MM tuned XS60C as well as his wife has graciously volunteered to smoke some goodies for the Saturday meal.
Scott at AGD has donated a Benjamin Nitro Limited and Gene has sent me a CBR trigger to install.
Darrell (ddgrego) has donated a new Daisy 953.
Norm is donating a Blaster stock that he will tailor cut for the Disco, MRod or MRod 2nd Gen. He will also cut them for the double tube setup if needed.
johninthecamper custom grips for the Crosman line of airguns
Rumors that a couple of folks have gotten together to supply a MRod (will hold off making that official until I hear a for certain :) )
I'm sure I've missed some, I don't have my "official" list started but need to. LOL
I have a couple of airguns we have purchased out of GTA funds that will be raffled also. Like a TAU-200 target Co2 air rifle. I'm buying tickets on this one!!!
I believe Gene has an airgun or two hidden away in his shop.
Any and all contributions accepted and appreciated. Let's make this the bestest Fun Shoot yet!!!!
See ya'll there.

OK, the 5 man cleanup crew came in this morning and cut down 25 trees and leveled the outer shooting areas on both sides this morning. Those who have been to all our previous shoots will know what this means. We now have a larger, deeper and wider shooting area now. At least 80 yards now. And this is all clean and no brush or trees in the way now...:) Thanks to the donations from all of you that made this all possible. We now have a fantastic shooting area..:)

Hope to see you there.

7am????
Gee...no beauty sleep for me. And you know I need a LOT. HeeHee
Well, sleep ain't gonna help. See you all in the early hours. Will be as Gene says, lot of fun, food, shooting and prizes. The best part is seeing our old friends and shaking hands with new ones!!!
I was very glad to see our GTA family members that showed up a little early. Especially good to finally shake hands with Mr. Melick. Mike is definitely one of a kind!!!
GREAT to see him and this was a long trip for him, 1200 miles.
Glad to have and see all of you that have or are making the trek.

Beauty sleep!? If you are looking for beauty sleep Dave you better sleep another 20 years  ;)

BZ, have you not realized D Ez can multi-multi-task?
LOL
On my shooting table are 2 airguns and my laptop. Meeting and greeting folks, selling raffle tickets, shooting and taking pictures.
Joe, I'm working on it bro, sorry. Maybe I don't multi-task so well. HeeHee
Kim is getting ready to upload some photos. Tyler is taking some also, Pyramyd Air has requested some to post on social media. I'll try to post some tonight.
Wish you were here my friend. I will say I've had a few most excellent surprises since arriving here this year. One of the best was when my ol' buddy rocker1 walked around the corner!!!
Richard has a huge pot stirring with some Cajun food cooking. It smells fantastic.
Hmmm...will soon be multi-multi-multi-tasking holding a spoon and bowl also.

Also, never ever expect a Cajun to answer correctly the question:  Is it hot and spicy??
They will automatically answer "NO, I just cook it to taste good."
But you better have plenty of water for the afterburn.

If so please feel free to come up and say Hi, I promise not to bite. As far as winning everything, well I don't know about that lol, but I try to do my part in supporting GTA, there is no more deserving site !!

A huge thank you to Gene, Dez, all the Misses an everyone else who helps to put on this most excellent event. Oh, and I cannot thank my own Misses for tolerating this bunch and driving us 17 hours straight through and putting up with me, she really is a trooper !

Wow.  I had an AWESOME time for the little bit that I was able to attend.  Learned a lot about my own guns, and got to meet some really cool people.  My wife wasn't feeling too good cause of the heat, and whatnot, so we had to duck out way earlier than planned to get on the road.  900 miles later, and here I'm home in Wisconsin.  I apologize in advance that I didn't get to say good bye to everyone there.  Or personally meet everyone.

Like I said.  I had a great time, and so did my boy and my 7 year old daughter.

Thanks everyone.

This has been the best of the best GTA Fun Shoots ever. All the wives pitched in and did allot of work to make this all work right..:). All there male partners...:) pitched in as well to set up and re set up targets and put up equipment etc. I want to personally thank Dave's wife. AKA Mrs Grumpy for a world class meal on Saturday. She sure knows how to cook and she sure knows how to cook for a bunch of hullegan air gun addicts..:)

Cathy my wife had southern biscuits, sausage and gravy with eggs both mornings. So all of you who know me now know why I am so big...:) She is one dang good cook too.

I also want to thank all who participated in this event for your support of the GTA. Dez, aka Ezman604, aka Dez Is one heck of an organizer and leader. Richard, aka amb5500c, cooked us all one of his family recipes of  for Friday's dinner. Man was that great stuff..:) Everyone loved it.

All in all it was a total blast of non stop air gunning and eating..:)

We did have a voyeur looking in on me when I would go in the restroom...:) I had to put my dog outside the door to guard the door while I did my business after they busted in on me...:)

Anyways we will be having allot more pictures and many monthly raffles to come. So keep on supporting the GTA. It is your forum.

Gene

I had a great time at the fun shoot! I can't thank enough everyone that helped with this event. It shows how the GTA is a very larger family and a great bunch of people. For all the members that could not make it, I would highly recommend to come next year and share the passion of air guns.

Thanks again.

I'm exhausted. But man, is it a great exhaustion.  ;D
Teresa and I had a blast as usual. We got a little rain on us but the timing, in my opinion, was perfect. It gave us time to hand out some door prizes and draw for raffle prizes. MANY thanks go to Gene and Cathy for hosting all us crazies. THANK YOU for opening your home once again and making us feel at home. It is a LOT of work and it was greatly appreciated and showed in all of the fun we had. It was great to see everyone and actually have time to chat with everyone. If I missed shaking hands or chatting with you, my apologies. I'll try harder next year!!!
And it was a pleasant surprise to get to see Mr. Bob pay us a visit. I know it took a lot for you to make it but we are all so proud you did my friend. GOD Bless you sir and we will continue to pray for your recovery.
The annual Fun Shoot is just like no other event I've ever attended. All year long you hear me and others proclaim that GTA is a FAMILY. This is more like a fun family reunion and legitimizes what we say about being a family of airgunners. I hope all that attended had 1/2 as much fun as Teresa and I did. The 3 days went by WAY too quickly. As I attempted to do my "creative packing" to leave, I said my good-bye's to most. It started to rain again as we were leaving and I failed to say a proper good-by to some of my dear friends. I think they know we really enjoyed our too short time together and will be chatting with them soon (Kim, Joel, Richard, & Liz to name a few)!!!
Many folks need special recognition for this event. There were a lot of donations by members and member/vendors of door prizes and raffle items. I will try to get my list together and post the folks that sent items. I will also echo Gene's comments on Nancy (Mrs grumpy) for the fantastic feast she prepared for us today. It was most awesome ma'am, thank you so much!!! Cathy helped and I believe Teresa also between the chores I asked of her. :)
Each year the event gets bigger and better. A few of the members and I chatted about next year and possibly finding a larger area for our ever expanding reunion. And it would be great to allow Gene to just come and enjoy the event (he does that anyway) but not feel like he has to do so much. You deserve a rest my friend!!! But I have a feeling it would be quite difficult to get Gene and Cathy to agree to not be full tilt into this event. :)
Art of Lexair furnished hamburgers and hotdogs again this year for a Friday meal. Richard also followed that up with an awesome kettle of Louisiana eatin'. Excellent stuff Rich!!!
Thanks to your support, we had enough funds to handle all of the expenses this year. And with the amount of raffle tickets sold and the generous donations, we were able to replace what we spent plus add more to the GTA operation funds. As well as having a few airguns left over for our monthly raffles. So the forum, as well as the annual Fun Shoot, happens because of and for YOU!!!
Teresa and I thank each and every one of you that attended. It was fantastic meeting you and getting to chat in person. I am already looking forward to next year and how the heck we can make it better. The only thing I can think of for sure that would make it better, is if YOU are there!!!
More photos coming.

A special thanks from Cathy and me to those that stayed behind and cleaned up and put everything away on Sunday. It is deeply appreciated. I am sorry for not being able to of helped but the preceeding weeks and three days of the fun shoot took its toll on my legs. It was all I could do, to get up and down the back deck stairs...:)

This  just shows you how great the GTA family is. Kim and Joel, aka Sis, and Sis2, had a 10 hour  trip to get home but stayed to help with the clean up. Also Richard and Chad, aka aack73 stayed behind to help with the clean up as well. Talk about going the extra mile..:) Again thank you for all those who helped make the fun shoot a blast..

Again thanks for all you do.

The folks of GTA are like a nice and  friendly family, caring for everyone, especially those going through hard times, I will keep them in my prayers. That barbeque was yummy! Haven't done so much shooting in a while! Met some nice people too :) Looking forward to next year!

Title: Re: GTA Fun Shoot 2014 - All the fun surprises:
Post by: gene_sc on May 11, 2014, 01:51:41 PM
I finally got to meet Mike Melick from Flying Dragon Airguns, and that was a great treat. What a gentleman and down to earth Friend. Been talking with
Mike for years on the phone and forum but never had the opportunity to meet him. Mike is an Icon in the airgun industry and has made several trips to China to help them
build air rifles that we like to shoot. His vast knowledge of air rifles make him a perfect candidate for design changes that improves the performance of all those air rifles
we like to buy and shoot. Thanks Mike for coming and supporting the GTA.

Also got to meet Gabe, aka lillysdad621. Now that was a pleasure, and surprise because Gabe has been with the GTA from the beginning, along with Jeff, aka Longislandhunter. Gabe
is another great asset to the airgun hobby/sport. He had some awesome stories and a collection of antique air rifles and air guns that would choke an elephant..:) Gabe
kept breaking out another gun everytime I turned around...:) Most all the air guns he had, I had only seen in pictures. A great guy and now a very good personal friend.
All this time I thought Gabe was in his 70' or 80's...:), BUT he is a good looking buck around 30 years old...:) What a surprise. And that just shows you that meeting people you have known
for years on the forum can be one heck of a surprise..:) It was a pleasure Gabe and I hope we can connect in the near future.

And another great guy and knowledgeable member was Jason and his son, aka Nervoustrigger. It was a pleasure getting to meet and talk with Jason. He is very sharp and has a
great talent and understanding of the Chinese airguns, Especially the QB series and the B-50 series PCP's. Technically savey and I love talking to him. He brought his son
and if my memory is correct his son is around 8 years old. That boy could shoot dime groups with a QB HPA air rifle out at 60  yards..:) He is another future air gun addict
and sharpshooter...:) Thanks again Jason for the  great conversations and for your support of the GTA.

I also got to meet another amazing man. Danieal, aka RDSAIL. Now Daniel is a good example of a man that is innovative and extremely creative on a beer budget...:)
Those of you who have not seen some of his projects you should take the time to find his posts and take a look at the pictures of some of his work. But the pictures do not
do his work any justice.. He is limited to his tools and tooling. The finished work he has produced is amazing. He is another technical savey GTA member. Thanks Daniel for
supporting the GTA, And coming to the GTA Fun Shoot and sharing with all of us. It was amazing what he has done with little tooling but he has a talent that many of us
would be envious of... Especially me..:) Thanks again Daniel for sharing and your support.

Another great suprise was meeting Liz, aka lizzie one of our long time GTA Moderators. Wow what a gal..:) She is another very talented air gun addict..:) She flew in from
Texas on Friday. Yes she works on air rifles and shoots like Annie Oakly...:) She loves older spring rifles and has a great collection. We all were very happy that she made
it and partook in all the fun. She canvased the shoot until she found an air rifle that she took a liking too and talked to the owner, "lillysdad621". I assume they
came to a mutual agreement and off she walked with another sweet air rifle...:) As I understand it, it was a XMS-24 Chinese rifle that Mike Melick had moded with a Reckord
Trigger. No wonder it caught here eye...:) I tried to get her to let me keep it and ship it to her later but she looked at me like I was nuts...:)
Guess she knows all about those Record Triggers...:) Anyway it was a great pleasure meeting Liz in person, talking to her and just
being around her. A very sweet lady air gunner... Thank you Liz for all you do and your support of the GTA.

These are just a handfull of those new faces that I had never met in person. There are many more new faces that I hope return next year so I can get you know them/you
and sit down and talk more.

The GTA is a diversified air gun forum and there is an endless amount of talent here on the GTA. I learn something new every day and am amazed by all the new innovations, ideas, and mods that
keep popping up. The GTA is truly blessed with some of the best talented air gunners in the world. Bar none.

Thank you all for your support of the GTA. It is your forum and always will be.

God Bless

Gene and Cathy

This event was unbelievable!!!! I' like to thank you all for throwing what has now become the highlight of the year. The food was unreal good (Rich... you my friend have an incredible talent... that was by far the best meal had in over 24 years in this country... that was reason enough to come.) The camaraderie shown and the hospitality shared by Gene and his gracious better half made the event feel like you were plinking at home. Dez, you have an uncanny skill at keeping everything running so smooth, and Alas, it make the event seem too short... Lizzie, you smiled beautifully for 2 days straight... enough to give us enough joy even on rainy days... thank you for your company. Kim and the crew... love you guys. I will keep the NP3 a secret... oh... Darn... Came there not knowing that i needed two Joshs' in my life... so glad to have met you guys personally... better meet me there again next year! Muse... a pleasure to have spent time with you my friend... Daniel... who knew i would find a link to my old country, and at the GTA shoot!!! by the way, I will post the recepy for a good Guarapito, for those lucky enough to still have some of your gift around. Jason... you have a gem in your son... even though we were all Bsing around tell Chris i did notice how he was just blasting targets out at some ungodly distances... that kid is a great shot...Mr Melick... who always with his generosity and wisdom answered a million questions and gave his insight as to what is to come with Flying Dragon (that P12 is AWESOME!!!!!!!), while managing to be the last man standing after the party...the man can party like a Rock Star... my hat is off to you sir. to everyone else who made this event what it was with your presence, help and gifts... thank you and see you there next year!!!!!

PS: it was great to see all the builds i have been reading about for the past few years... if you did not get there this year, you missed out big time!!!! Thank you GTA family for the gathering of the year!!!!

Jonnnyboy,  wish you were here. Richard told me about your wife and I will be praying for her.
Also, never ever expect a Cajun to answer correctly the question:  Is it hot and spicy??
They will automatically answer "NO, I just cook it to taste good."
But you better have plenty of water for the afterburn.

it was "warm"... not spicy!!!

just to Add to what everyone else is saying, the fun shoot was awesome... yes Mike Melick can party!!!   putting a good face and voice to all the names in chat and on the forums was awesome!  it was a good time hanging out with Grumpy, Lilysdad, RDsail, Wilson, LilSis and Mr.Sis, ACK, Rocker1, and the few others who were down on our end!!!  Thanks to Kevin (AFMUSE76) for driving and allowing me the use of the "trailer park on the hill".  i hope you all drive safe and arrive home unscathed!!!

yes, the NP3 will stay a secret!!!

Made it home about 90 minutes ago.

I have a great time meeting those that attended and looking at all the very nice guns.  I enjoyed my shooting the bull, figuratively and actually.  It was nice to put faces to names.

My wife shot 6 different rifles (thank you) and over 150 pellets.  Until that time she had not shot any.  She enjoyed that and REALLY liked Kim's super Mrod

Everyone I ran into made me feel welcome.  My wife and I thank you all for that.  There were so many nice people, I could not name them all though I would like to thank ...

Gene for hosting and making me feel welcome right off.
Dez for the same reason.
They both make it seem we were old friends.

Joel and Kim for sharing their canopy and company for the shoot.  I felt like kinfolk as we sat and shot and chatted.  ;- )
Thank you joel for the zombie target !  I am thrilled to have it to shoot up.  Can't thank you enough.

Dave,  Daniel and Josh, it was great to finally meet you in person.  You also made me feel welcome.

I know I did not name everyone and MUST stress, everyone was friendly and made my wife and I feel welcome.  thank you !

I took a boatload of photos and will get them edited and posted where everyone can see and copy and they like for their personal use.

I just want to thank everyone that came. Gene was a great host. Food was awesome, thanks goes to those who prepared. The guns where impressive. I kept hearing people refer to GTA members as family, now i know why, and im proud to be a part of that family. To all the sponsors and people that contributed to GTA, i thank you. Keep up the good work, i look forward to hearing from you guys in the chat, and seeing you next year at the shoot.

In my opinion all post should have SOME eye candy.

Pops and I just made it home a short while ago.  Really had a great time this year.  The past few years have been fun as well but there was something special about this year.  Maybe it will come to me....not sure.  It was great as always to see Gene, Dez and the rest of the crew.  Special thank you to Gene's wife Cathy and Dez's wife Teresa, both of which are integral to this event.  Was really great to see my buds Brett and Richard, and even David (Rocker1) made an appearance.  That was an unexpected surprise.  Hopefully he will not be a stranger around here!

Thanks to everyone who attended and helped make the event special.  Every year it seems to grow and become another can't miss event on my calender.  I hope to share next years event with more new faces and LOTS of cool airguns!

Tyler

It was great. I cant really add to whats already been said. After all that driving, I'm too tired to even try. I'll probably dream about air rifles tonight. ( but that wont really be unusual for me). I wont even try to name  all of the folks that I owe thanks to because EVERYONE contributed to making the event a huge success and a big ole pile of fun. I will, however, mention just a couple of my favorite highlights of the event: The priceless look on Kim's face when she kicked every man there's butt at shooting BB sized paintballs off of golf tees from 50 yards to win the PCP competition. Congratulations Kim and to Tyler also, for winning the spring gun competition. It was truly a blessing to get to see Mr. Bob come walking up there. I was also pleasantly surprised to get to hang out with my old buddy David aka (Rocker1) and to have left him with a mental image he wont soon forget. LOL. It was great to reacquaint with the rest of my old friends and I left there confident that I had made quite a few more treasured friends/family. Thanks to the Lord for providing us with his traveling grace that allowed us all to gather together for a while and return to our respective homes safely.

well now that we made home after the 14 hour drive and the 1 hour of unpacking the vehicle we would like to thank all that showed and Gene for letting us have another great get together this year. It was great to see all the old crew there and all the new faces. As for Richards comment about my face he should have been in my head as i was saying NO WAY. I was shocked I hit one but to get 3 was just unbelievable to me. Cant wait to see all the pics when everyone has the time to get them loaded and will try to get the few I have up soon. Now it is time for bed. Glad I took the extra day off work.

Wow, what a great time!  Nice guns, great food, and an amazing group of people!

It's hard to know where to start but I'll give it a whirl.

Firstly, I want to thank Gene for letting us all gather at his place.  What a great venue.  Awesome shooting range with a dizzying array of targets, and I can hardly imagine the preparations it must have required.  For example, on Friday I accidentally left the Deep Woods OFF spray at the hotel room.  Half way through the day I realized I hadn't swatted at a single mosquito and Gene explained that he'd had the yard sprayed twice over the last couple of weeks to keep the bugs at bay.  Nice!  And as for the man himself, if you ever get an opportunity to talk shop with Gene and see his amazing air rifle collection, don't let it pass you by.

Big thanks to DEz for his tireless efforts to organize the activities, the door prizes, the raffle, and numerous other things I have the luxury of not even knowing.

I enjoyed meeting Daniel (Rdsail) and shooting his finely crafted Disco.  Well, by Disco I mean I know he had a Disco at one time and he swears there's something inside of the rifle that is a Disco part, but you wouldn't know it by looking at it and shooting it! :D  Thanks also for keeping my boy and me aired up.

And Gabe (lilysdad) is a walking encyclopedia of air guns!  If you want to know what it would look like if ESPN did a Stump the Schwab for air guns, strike up a conversation with Gabe.

It was great to meet Mike Melick.  Super nice guy who promptly took the time to show me his bevy of rifles, and let me shoot everything from a very tame RWS 34 to a beastly .25 cal XS28M, to the new P12 bullpup.

Josh (Korps) is a great guy who let both my boy and me shoot his LW-barreled Marauder bullpup.  Christopher was smacking spoons and foam balls at 50 and 60 yards with it in pretty short order, all the more impressive considering we had dialed back the scope to 10x and he couldn't use bags to steady it.  Thanks too for keeping us aired up!

Toward the end of the day Saturday, I met 454 Big Block Chevy and his .25 cal Condor.  Really nice guy who quickly offered to let my son and me shoot it as much as we wanted.  He has it shooting both powerfully and accurately, making a strong case for anyone thinking about a hard-hitting quarterbore.

Al (airgunwarriors) couldn't be there but he hooked up the raffle with all sorts of goodies like the Tifosi glasses and heavy-duty spinners from Trenier as well as custom 13ci bottle covers.  He also supplied a target stand with lots of hanging targets which summarily got attacked like a wounded elk by a pack of wolves.  The resulting damage was impressive to say the least but it was good fun while it lasted!

I'm sure I'm forgetting some folks but suffice it to say I can't imagine finding a better group of people in a different hobby.  Overall I had a great time and so did Christopher.  Well worth the 7 hour drive and I'm looking forward to next year!

My hats off to Dez he had his hands full just toting guns back and forth to his truck, he is a good man though to put up with folks like me.  By the way I did see a sasquatch and I have witnesses  lol!!!!!  Thanks  David

I really wish I could have stayed longer.  I really enjoyed the time I did get on Friday.  My son had a blast as well.  Thanks goes out to 454 Big Block Chevy for teaching me some secrets for my Gamo Big Cat, and to the other members who helped me when my marauder blew a gasket.  Litterally.  Being a LONG time member of the US Army, I thought it was really cool to see so many people from different branches of service.  I think what gets me enjoying this hobby so much is the fact that I spent numerous years doing Service Rifle Competition for the army, and the fact that my son enjoys it.  Also a special thanks goes out to the lady who set me up with the GRT III Trigger for my gamo.  My son and i are really going to enjoy this.

Once again.  Thanks so much for everyone who made this possible, and I hope to be able to attend again next year.

Pat

I did the best I could on the dates. I missed out on my annual bass tournament this year because of it. There is ALWAYS a conflict of some type with setting the dates in May but I'll try harder next year. As for the hotel rates, I actually got a better hotel for less this year than last.

Our Fun Shoot has always been held in May. As stated, there will always be some conflict with the date, no matter which you choose. :)
But we will take a harder look next year and try better.
There's a lot of info I need to pass along. This years Fun Shoot was outstanding. Thanks again for all of you for your support and for attending. It was and always is an excellent event because of YOU!!!
We had a LOT of donations by members and member/vendors. I'll try to make this comprehensive but I may have to edit and add folks if I forget some. If I do, my apologies up front.
THANK YOU to:
My wife Teresa!!!
Tim (TimmyMac1 of Mac1 Airguns)
Jeff (Trenier - formally paperplatetargets of http://cadwis.com (http://cadwis.com))
Lloyd (lloyd-ss of AirGunLab)
Norm (Norm_m of DiscoRus)
Al (airgunwarriors of AERO-MAGNUM)
Art (Lexair/Lexington Airguns)
Andy (vigilandy)
David (grumpy & Nancy-Mrs. grumpy)
Kim & Joel (Lil' Sis & Mr_Sis)
Crosman Corp
Pyramyd Air
Ron (ronbeaux)
John (johninthecamper)
Vincent (Airgun Exporter)
Mike (mikeiniowa of Flying Dragon Air Rifles)
Darrell (ddgrego)
Gene & Cathy (gene_sc)
John (Flatcar1)
Jason (nervoustrigger)
Josh (wilsonj1018)

I probably missed someone in my feeble attempt to thank folks. If so, refresh my memory and I'll update the list.
Jason and Josh donated some vintage airguns that I did not put out for raffle. David (grumpy) also donated a slab of ballistic material I found while packing to leave. John (johninthecamper) sent two sets of custom grips he made that will fit the 13xx airguns. What I intend on doing is take these three items and having a monthly raffle package. It will be a vintage package with the ballistic material also. I may have to buy tickets for that one. :)
Thanks guys for the donations and they will be used to support GTA Forums!!!

While I'm updating this thread, I'll just toss in a few more photos.

This year's shooting competition was most excellent and challenging. PCP shooters had the extra challenge of hitting a .43 caliber paintball at 50 yards. This year the winner received a trophy and a $50 Pyramyd Air gift certificate. Second place received a $25 PA gift certificate. Congrats to Kim (Lil Sis) and Kevin (Afmuse76) for winner and runner up respectively in the PCP division. Here Gene and Bob present them with their prizes.

Springers had the challenge of hitting a .68 caliber paintball at 25 yards. This is a one shot elimination. It may not sound tough, but believe me it WAS!!!
Congrats to Tyler (Tpatner412) for clinching the 1st place and to Richard (amb5500c) for second place. EXCELLENT shooting everyone!!!

Looking at the registration logs last night I only counted around 45 members. I do believe we had more than that attend. The firing line was full end to end and we even had folks waiting to shoot. I gave up my prime shooting position for other members since I was too busy to sit and shoot. LOL
Any sacrifice for GTA and our family. HeeHee
By the way, this year we also commissioned a videographer to document our event. He is in the process of editing and preparing the video and as soon as it is available, we will let you know. Thanks to Tyler for being mic-ed up and adding narration and descriptions. It will be posted on YouTube and may make copies available for sale to recoup the expense? Just tossing ideas around. Anyway, stay tuned for the video release.
Thanks again for everyone that attended, pitched in with helping setup and cleanup, preparing food and for all of the fantastic donations and buying raffle tickets!!!
Let's make next year the BEST ever!!!
 ;D
