Pcp vs Pellet/bb rifle

Been reading on PCP rifles not for Me..to much to buy. Just saw Pcp rifle on you tube killing squirrels at 25 yards..I have the Daisy 880 very Accurate at 25 yards with 7 pumps..also Daisy model 35 and the 901...Pcp is going to far with Price, give me a Daisy anytime..Didn't forget Crosman..If you like break barrels Many will reach out 50 to75 yards for a lot less $$ than a PCP..Hope Daisy comes out with new Rifle

Try a Seneca Dragonfly Mk2 and get a rangefinder and a scope with mil-dots. If you know what you're doing you can shoot Minute of Squirrel's Head at 50 yards.

I have taken a ground squirrel (chipmunk size) at forty yards with a head shot with my Diana 34 break barrel.  Springers are great for pesting, it just takes a little practice.

I love my springers above all, but PCP has its merits. And believe it or not, they are not as expensive as you might think. You can get into PCP land for about 250$ (rifle and pump), and then be amazed how easy they are to shoot. You really will think that you are the reincarnation of some famous sniper...lol. I picked up a Maximus in .177 for 100$ and it does tiny little cloverleafs at 50 yards. It outshoots my Rimfire many times over.

 Sure a YT video of a PCP getting a kill at 25 may not be that impressive, I get that. Heck I can (and have) done that with a $98 break barrel from Walmart and a 50 year old multi-pumper.
BUT don't kid yourself that is the MAX distance for PCP... It's like posting a video of a pop-can dancing at 5 yards with a Red Rider.
 Not all PCP guns are mega $$$. I too have a Maximus that I got for $180 that can reliably reach out to 50 yards. AND it is easily charged with a $35 hand pump to it's 2000 psi pressure.
  Now, that said, I also have an AA S400-SL and it is nothing short of amazing. When shooting buddies come over with their .22LR and think they are good shots, it puts them to shame. I earned "SharpShooter"  in the N.U.A.H. club with a 2-1/16" group at 125 yards with it.
 Can't do that with my Daisy, but the $28 R.R, puts the SAME smile on my face when I want to plink! 

There is a reason higher end PCP's get that kind of coin, if it is what you desire.

Yep, I can, and do, still have hours of fun with my coral of 880s but at some point I get tired of hand loading single pellets and pumping 7 - 10 strokes for a shot.
That's when it's time to step over to the $250 YH compressor, put 4300psi in the $300 AV Avenger in about 20 seconds, load up 6 mags of my cast .25 cal pellets and splatter paintballs or pests at 50yds and beyond.
It becomes an addiction.

PCP are boringly accurate I shot my 392 yesterday and had to work fir my 186 score. PCP  the day before I whipped out a 194 score in no time.

My one of currently two Daisy 880's has taken more critters than all my other guns (air/pb) combined. Sadly, it's due for a rebuild or possibly a deep cleaning if I'm lucky (it's not sealing properly). I've fired a few thousand BB's through it along with many pellets. Its barrel was never particularly accurate with most pellets I tried, so concerns of ruining the rifling w/ BB's was never a big issue. Eventually I found with 8 to 12 pumps and H&N Silver Arrow pellets it'll do most airgun tasks out to about 30 yards, but I prefer to keep shots closer with that gun. Funny thing, those H&N Silver Arrow 11.5gr pellets only group well in that gun, I have tried them in many others with no luck. I ground the abutment plug down to gain a little more valve volume and help drop the valve pressure some for all those 12 pump shots. Not sure how much it helped, but at 10 to 12 pumps it was stronger (via chrony) than the one purchased after, though at lower pumps the unmodified gun performed better. With 3 or 4 pumps it'll sling BB's fairly accurately, at 12 pumps they're moving at an average of 700fps and are unpredictable, aside from going downrange uncomfortably fast... For a BB 

I do own some pcp's and a few spring/gas piston guns also. Different guns for different tasks. Having variable power is a major plus for pumpers. For some, being able to fire pellets or BB's is another advantage...

I dont hunt….but as some one mentioned ….I have just as much fun with my Daisy’s as I do with my 6 PCP’s…lol..averaging the cost of my 6 PCP’s @ $250+$500 rov/air…not counting optics..I dont think 2k is a bad investment…lol…goodluck…
