Quest 1000 from airgunsdaily.com

When this one popped up in my email, I jumped on the buy button.
This was listed as a remanufactured Quest 1000 w/3-9x32 scope. Since I have purchased from Scott before, I anxiously awaited the arrival. I had also purchased a Remington Summit stock and my plans were that if the rifle performed well, I would swap the wood for the beautiful glossy Summit stock.
It took about a week to receive it through brown. And I will also add Scott sends tracking info as soon as it's available. That is an added plus since I'm ALWAYS like a kid waiting on the arrival of my new toy.
When I opened the outer box and removed the factory Crosman box, I was a little confused. It was a Quest 1000 box with a Storm XT sticker over the Quest name.
Upon opening the inner box, I was pleasantly surprised to see what appeared to be a totally new gun, not a refurbished unit. The scope was still in a sealed package and the ONLY evidence of reman was a sticker on the underside of the stock. This was easily peeled off and glue residue wiped off. No stamps in the wood or metal with a big R like others do.
I took the gun apart and checked all bolts and tightened the breach pivot bolt, which tightened by about 1/4 turn. I ran 3 patches of Goo Gone through the bore but it was fairly clean. I installed my new GRT III (a MUST) and then I mounted the metal into the Summit stock. The scope came with a fairly nice set of rings. The rear ring is a 4 screw type with a scope stop screw. The front ring is a smaller 2 screw model. I opted to use a 4 bolt one piece mount for the CP 3-9x32 scope that came with the gun. It was very clear and if it didn't work for me, I have a CP 4-16x40AO/IR I can slap on there instead. I added loctite and let it set up over night.
I was worried about WHEN I would have time to zero the scope and see what it would do, so I took the gun to work with me. It's usually dark by the time I get home after work so I planned on making a little time during the day to fire a few rounds. Or at least shoot right after work, when I would have at least an hours daylight. At lunch, I ran out to the back of our property and threw up a skid with cardboard on it and attached some peel & stick targets. It only took 2 shots at 25 yards to get a bull of a 3" sticker. Not bad.
Today, I had more time to shoot. I set my target backstop out at the usual 30 yards and affixed several different targets, including lollipops and paintballs on golf tees.
I loaded the gun up with CPHP 7.9gr and aimed for an 8" Dirty Bird bullseye target. After squeezing the trigger and hearing the smack to the backstop, I couldn't see a hit. I thought I missed all together. I went down to the target to investigate and realized I had hit dead bull on the first shot.
Since it seemed to be very close to zero, my next shot was at a paintball. Nailed it...MAN this thing is spooky accurate.
Then the third shot was at a selected pool ball on a sheet of 15. I actually pulled it a bit but wow...
THIS gun is a gem. The price was excellent, the condition was WAY better than expected and the accuracy is out of this world. I chronied it today and with CPHP 7.9gr I got an average of 898.73fps which equates to 14.17fpe. And just a spread of 19fps in a 10 shot string. QUITE a good hunter/plinker in my book. Scott, once again you have supplied a GREAT bargain on an excellent item. And since it was listed as a Quest 1000, was actually a Storm XT, and since I mounted it into a Summit stock, Gene and I have named this a QUESS Ultra. LOL
I MAY be selling some of my beauties for an upcoming project but I can guarantee you THIS gun will not be for sale. One thing I did discover is I HAVE to have an AO scope. I wear glasses and I tried shooting WITH prescription glasses and with safety glasses. I can focus to get a clear reticle but the target is blurry. I can adjust the eyepiece focus for the target and the reticle is blurred. So, I set it in between for now. I may swap the scope later, but it's shooting SO well, I hate to mess with it. It is a perfect match of weight, power and accuracy that I believe is the basis for purchasing different airguns in the first place. In the search for the perfect airgun, this one is just about there!!!!
Happy Shooting!!!!
Dave

Nice looking stock!
Is the wrist any narrower on the Summit stock than the Storm's? I have a little trouble getting my trigger-finger headed the right direction while holding the Storm stock and I'm looking for a replacement.
If nothing else maybe someone will trade me a Titan (thumbhole) stock. I've read of several who don't like that stock, and I find it very comfortable.

I don't have both available to verify but I believe the Summit is narrower by a shade. It is very comfortable to me, compared to all others I've shot. THAT may account for the awesome accuracy I'm getting with this gun.
