HERE
is info on some of the changes made to the 880 and approximately when they came about. There's gaps that will be filled as I find more info. Besides the members at the Daisy Talk forum being a good bunch of folks, I'm using Daisy Talk because I expect to be adding info for quite some time and there's no time limit to editing there. Thanks to everyone who took the time to answer questions about their 880s- without you this would not have been possible.
HERE
is a link to a second thread with info on using the REG. and LOT NO.s for dating a Daisy.
If anyone has anything they'd like to add, feel free to post it or PM me.

Just saved all your info to my desk top .. great valuable Daisy 880 info.
Also my year 2004 880 that had one stock screw has a flat piston ... when did the flat pistons stop and the new style begin ? Also the butt plate says Daisy .. not Powerline or Powerking ?
Thank you very much.
Should be a sticky !!

Thanks
Info on internal differences and changes made to the 880 has been a bit hard to come by. I actually omitted the internal info for that reason- the sample population is so scant that there's several years between the differences, which makes the info a lot less useful. Hopefully I will get enough info to fill in the gaps enough to make it worthwhile.
For the flat top piston question, I have the following (have added your gun to it):
1982 May LOT NO. E217995 has flat top, as-cast piston, brass tube
1995-’96 flat top
1998 Nov. (plastic receiver) LOT NO 1198 13850 has
machined
flat top piston
2004 has a flat top piston
2013 S/N 162013732814U Chinese production is as-cast w/notch
So sometime between 2004 and 2013 the pistons got a dish. That's a 9 year gap! haha
