yes,imo
i noticed the holes on my plastic bands get worn a little
the only reason why i would get one,is so i could add a reinforcing screw to the barrel band through the tube.since its metal it would tap easier offer better support for the added set screw

I would also assume that the metal bands are better for longer barrels ?

Those after market barrel bands are really nice but I don't have 48 bucks to spend on a barrel band. Maybe if I was going all out on mods and needed the strength to stand up to 20 hard pumps, then yes...
I've read that a barrel band is fine just as long as it keeps the barrel stable and nothing moves... So, I'm fine with the stock plastic ones... It all depends on the application...

I bought the bands when Bluefork Dedsigns was making them and I love them... I have a converted 1322 and a PC77 dressed in the bands...

I got one from GMAC in the uk, it was about the same price shipping included, but not really as nice as those ones you are talking about. Its really all in preference. I like them to better stabilize the barrel. Some people think that they dont really do anything, and that the steel breech barrel mounts/grub screws is all that really matters for stabilizing the barrel, but with the plastic barrel band, I noticed the whole top-end flex as you pump, and the barrel actually moves slightly up and down with each pump.. I dont like all that movement. Another reason I always stick a metal barrel band on my 13xx guns, is to simply replace a plastic part with some nice metal parts.. They look great, and add heft/strength to the overall gun. I'm not fond of plastic on any gun so i do away with and replace it in any possible way i can. I think its worth it, but its just my opinion.. they are expensive, but just because it is an intricate part to make , if you know anything about machining. Must take lots of steps to make those.. I think that those ones on the yellow are better than the gmac ones, and the bluefork ones are the best ones available, but you may wait up to several months for the blue fork one, while the ones michael Chvaka is selling on the yellow would be quicker to get.

Not to me, they're not. They're just cosmetic.
I think what happens is that folks replace their plastic breech with a steel one, so they can get the scope mounting grooves. Then, they get to looking, and figure they ought to replace the other plastic bits while they're at it, and the grips and barrel band go next.
Then, they start liking the gun so much, the figure cheap roll pins are no good, and replace that with a solid pin.
Then, they see one with a wire stock, figure that is more tactical than a plastic stock, and get that.
The end result is that there's not an original part left on the gun.

Yep I agree that is exactly what happens. What else happens, is companies start cutting out metal parts and replacing them with plastic to save money on production, leaving people to rely on the aftermarket for parts that shouldn't be plastic in the first place. I guess that maybe i'm just old school. I believe anything above an airsoft gun should be all wood and metal (with the exception of quality synthetic rifle stocks). If plastic air guns don't bother you then the plastic band will do. I also believe that the plastic band doesn't hurt the accuracy of the gun, and will work fine. But if you are someone who wants to squeeze every last bit of accuracy and stability out of the gun, than this might be a part for you. The gain in accuracy probly wasn't significant but for the barrel stability it was a pretty big difference.
