The ads show cyclone water separator on the side with a red knob,Does this work well ?
I just ordered one as welldoes anybody know if the separators on the big dive shop type compressors are made up similar way ?
With 52 pages of info on the main thread, I have a few questions about the compressor::-)1) is it still the case that the 110v does not have a shut off but the 220v does?2) What are the specific power (amp) requirements for each version?3) How well does the water separator work? I see some users adding high-side filters.4) Sorry, one more question... how long to top off a Joe B Tigershark tank from 3000 psi to 4500 psi?(What else should I know or ask? The prices of these are getting VERY tempting @$350 shipped from LA!)
Brian,I was ripped off on ebay trying to buy one. It was an ordeal to get my money back. I don't want to go through that again.Who did you buy your compressor from and through? How long was the shipping? Thanks!Mike

There is no way these unit could be fitted with that level of filtration/separation. That's why they warn it's NOT to be used to fill scuba tanks!!On the bright side? It's much better than using the hand pump which doesn't have any type of separator or filter.
I only fill my tank to just over 4000 PSI. I try not to max it out. It will last longer with less strain on it. So what if the tank is not at its max PSI I have a way to top it off
Yong Heng compressor fill rate (220 model) is 0,4565 liters per second or 27.85734 cuin/sec, from this you can calculate the required fill times.I have filled my 4500 psi 6 liter tank maybe ten times from 2900 psi to 4500 and nothing has broken. I do the filling in one go, bleeding a few times depending on the RH. During five fills my dryer had absorbed 16 grams of water and can absorb maximum of 30 grams.I think it is far more effective way to use this compressor to fill a large tank than it is to directly fill guns which increases the compressor run time.
I can not see the critical difference here, if you fill a small tank dozen times or larger tank once, the compressor run time is less overall when filling that large tank
I have noticed that the black filter does absolutely nothing in terms of removing water, it is a misconception to call it a water separator.
Lets see, if your tank contains 72 cuft of air at some pressure, it equals to 2038.813 liters of air. Then again 124,416 cuin equals 2.038813 liters, something does not look right
