Please have a look at this practice run. I have written a 'score' at the bottom right of each bull what I 'think' the score is.
Let me know if I am right, or low, or high please?
Oh yea catch that one flyer third from the top right :o I assume that's a zero +7 =7 ?

Hey Tom,
I am still working up to this myself but i am pretty sure you are scoring yourself low. My understanding is that you count the highest ring you hit, even if it is only hitting the line itself. There are different rules for scoring an X depending on pellet size i believe.
Shortly someone more in the know will confirm or deny my thoughts and we will both know.
What were you shooting at what distance?

Oh that is the 50 foot target.
Shooting the Diana Chaser, .22 caliber, but all I had were JSB Exact in 13gr. Not the Chaser's favorite. It prefers H&N FTT at 14gr but I ran out. So just practicing for now. I have a couple tins of the H&N supposed to show up tomorrow :D

Tom, it looks like you are scoring each pellet hole 1 point low. Here is how to score the 50' target
Except for scores of "X", shots are scored according to the highest value of the target scoring zone or ring that is touched by a circle centered over the shot with a diameter equal to the pellet caliber designated for the target. A scoring gauge or the head of a wad-cutter pellet comes in handy for this (the pellet skirt may be too large), or just determine this circle using the hole in the target made by the shot as best you can. If any part of a scoring ring (demarcation line between the scoring zones) is touched by this circle, including even the outside edge of the scoring ring line, the shot is scored the higher value of the two scoring zones. In order to score an "X," the center 10 ring dot on the "45" target for 0.177 (4.5mm) caliber must be completely obliterated, or the larger gray ring around the smaller 10 ring dot must be completely obliterated on the "55" and "635" targets for 0.22 and 0.25 caliber (5.5mm and 6.35mm)
On the 50" target the small center black dot is the 10 ring and each ring out from the dot is numbered downward. You only need to touch the higher numbered ring with the pellet to score the higher value. So to score a 10 you need the pellet to touch the center dot, doesn't matter by how much as long as it touches. The same holds true for all the other rings.
Also to get cleaner holes try backing up your targets with cardboard or you can use card stock to print your targets. I get a little anal and use cardboard as a base layer then some other heavy type paper (old hanging folders cut in half, pizza box type cardboard, etc.) and then the target itself. Keep the target paper as taut as possible.

This is how I would score your target sheet;
16 7 8
11 17 14
16 11 13
8 13 15
For a total of 149/240 since you have 12 targets.

That's an elongated hole so it's a little dificult to know where the exact footprint of the pellet is. If the footprint did fall in the center of the hole, at the point where it did break the dot, then yes it would be a 10.

I agree with everyone else here, you're scoring yourself too low.
Most times, the questions come with those ones where the outer edge of the hole may or may not touch the scoring ring. The rule for NRA is "tangent to", but that wording isn't in the rule books that way anymore. I guess people had a hard time with understanding "tangent". Now the rule is "A shot hole, the leaded edge of which comes in contact with the outside of the bull’s-eye or scoring rings of a target, is given the higher value." (copied directly from the Precision Pistol rule book)
So that means that if both hole and scoring ring touch for even the smallest point, it's in.

Thanks for the input everyone. I have a better understanding now.
I also have started gluing the targets to cardstock to get cleaner holes.
Now if the darn H&N's would just get here... I got an amazon delivery everything BUT the pellets were in it. Including a new box of 40 12 gram co2s.
Oh well another box from PA is on the brown truck allegedly that is supposed to have some more pellets in it. Along with a new Benjamin Titan NP2! I will have to resist shooting that until I finish this target thing, but that's a good situation to be in.
