Auction House purchase and first reflections on a Gamo Wildcat Whisper
«

I recently bid and won a local auction house item. For $75 I bought a Gamo Wildcat Whisper.
Opening the box when I got her home I noted the scope was not in the box. Nice feel and good weight distribution.
Mounted the scope that has been badly maligned by previous shooters.
Not backyard friendly, quite a bark for a "Whisper". Tried some 10 meter shots.
I did not shoot at a target but an adult beverage can with some 8.3 grain RWS Superdomes.
Aimed at the AB symbol several times and the can barely twitched. Took a shot lower at the white portion of the can just confirm I was hitting something besides the backstop. Went out to check the "target" and was amazed to find several hits around the blue shield and impressive exit holes.
When I get my "silent pellet trap" built I will try to zero this scope.
Anyone got an economy scope recommendation?

Mantis 3-9×40. Available from pyramid air. Less than a hundred.
I've had one on a Diana k98 for a couple years, now, and it gets shot a LOT.
( as in several thousand rounds )
Never had a problem with it.

Well I broke down and bought a Hammers 4x32AO.
I haven't mounted it...until today after I took the GWW to the local Conservation Club (founded 1907) as a Guest.
Used the pistol range targets since the PBs were sighting in for opening day firearms deer season on Nov.15th.
Shot about 75 pellets at
25 yards
. 25 pellets each of RWS Superdomes, Beeman HPs and CPHPs.
The Superdomes shot best. Needless to say the Gamo Scope was cloudy and unsatisfactory. Took the Gamo off and installed the Hammers.
Monday night I plan on becoming a member at the Conservation Club and back out to the pistol range next weekend.
Compared to the backyard the Gamo did Whisper.

Good choice on the 4x32AO Hammers. Should holdup good being a fixedpower scope, as long as your Not adjusted too far up or to the right, on Any Scope, itll hold POA/I. I have a number of 4x32mmAO scopes of other brands, they all do great.
If you have your scope sight in around 14 15 yards you should rehit around 30 35 with around 1/2" high around 22-24yards.. Excellentwork on the GWW.
