The polymer spring splintered when I compressed it to remove the pin. Put a drop of oil in the valve stem and see if it bubbles when yoo pump it..........I have those O-rings, as long as you have a hex valve.....I do not have one for the real early round valves...if bad, you will need to replace.....Your bumper was better than most...typically they have turned to goo..........

I have never done that comparison. There have been changes to the volume of the pressure chamber over the years.I,too have felt that the newer 880 has more "pop" when shooting, but never chronied...Ir is important that the inside of your pump tube is clean....rubber bits stuck to the walls of the tube will cost you pressure, moreso at higher strokes.
I wonder if the seat could be scratched or something that I can't see.

I bought a 922 off ebay that would not seal. I tried everything, new seals, new poppet valves, cleaned to a mirror finish, deburred the transfer port, etc..... nothing worked. Now I'm just gonna pull the barrel and put it on a 1977 to make a 22 cal 1977. Sometimes I think the transfer port can get scratched to the point there's little hope. As a very last ditch effort you might try drilling out the transfer port to 0.125" then use a brass case chamfer tool on the poppet valve seat and see if you can remove the scratch in the TP. If that doesn't work you could repeat with a 0.14" drill bit on the TP hole and re-chamfer. If that doesn't work I would say the valve body is garbage. Again I consider these last ditch efforts that the end result, if not successful, will result in a completely ruined valve body. With that being said if its not sealing then sometimes its worth a shot because it works in some cases and a non-sealing valve body is already garbage.
@freezypellets, did u get it working?
