Adjustable mounts on a springer?
«

Getting ready every spring is always a few steps forward then one or two back and the occasional do-over....
HAve a set of FX adjustable mounts. They put me on almost on target just from the adjustments in the mount. But as I put shots thru the TX200, they'd move and the gun would start shooting low, slowly walking down the target face.
Is there a trick to getting them to NOT shift on a spring gun?? found Ted's vid on how to set them, but that was on a PCP. Love the idea of these mounts, as they save almost all the "clicks" for elevation.
TIA

Hi Dan
Too many variables (adjustment screws, locking screws, weight of scope, height of scope from receiver etc) regarding these FX mounts coming out of adjustment. I checked online and it looks like a two piece adjustable mount. The problem with a two piece adjustable mount set up is that you may be putting tension on your scope tube during initial set up (unless you use a solid tubing to align both mounts initially) and/or when one side gets out of adjustment.
A sportmatch one piece adjustable mount might be a better option. I've used those and they do not shift and I haven't had one come out of adjustment yet.
There's a cheaper adjustable picatinny riser option (Monstrum). But that requires some modifications to the riser. I've used this in my FT TX200 rig (for 3 years) without any issues so far.

I've never used the FX mounts. I got a Hawke one piece mount for my TX 200. It is not adjustable but is pretty much perfect right out of the package.

Then your best option is an adjustable riser mount. (I could be wrong, but I don't think Sportsmatch makes an adjustable one piece 34 mm mount)

If you want to see how I modify this one ...PM Me.
First you optically center your scope. Then that riser can be angled up or down...shims added to give windage adjustment... Play around with the adjustments until your POI is exactly where you want it...then epoxied all the adjustments in place so NOTHING moves.
