Based on my experience with Hawke customer service, I would not decide before knowing what would they say.
Just got back from the range. Very very bright day over a dirt shooting range. I will confirm the glass on the Vantage 3-12x44 is terrible. The image was bright but almost cloudy like there was dust on the lenses. It was so washed out it was almost useless at 100 yards in these conditions. I've never been impressed with this one but didn't notice it so bad until today. I have a bunch of Vantage scopes that I'm happy with the value of the glass but not this one. I've been a proponent of their scopes a long time. This one is a DOG.

This one is a DOG.The Vantage line was pretty common in the PI back in the day due to their lower cost, so I was able to take a peek at quite a few of the higher mag ones. Terrible subpar glass, yessuh. Lower cost means more than 2x the price in my native country though. The Vortex Diamondbacks, the PI made ones, were equally as popular but with much superior lenses.Too bad they're now manufactured in China.
