I think investments into higher air efficiency will be the next big thing. Right now Most big bore platforms can push the limits of subsonic bullets in caliber, but not very efficiently.

YMMV

YMMV I didn't see anyone criticizing your Piledriver. However, wouldn't you rather have four shots than two? That's half the wear and tear on your compressor! It's not about how many shots you *need* to take, but how many do you want to take? Especially in the case of a big bore being used to hunt large game. If you could increase air efficiency then that's more shots on your trip without needing to bring more bottles, compressor, etc.Anyway, super weird that you responded to me to tell me about your Piledriver and its air usage. It's basically the same efficiency as a Texan, Dragon Claw, AEA Challenger, etc. Which all get 2-3 full power shots per charge.I hope you have a small bottle, otherwise you have to hear a compressor screaming every two shots. Probably not very fun for printing groups, getting a new zero, and so on.

Not sure about hogs but I think you can only carry one deer out of the woods.
IMO, if Big Bore shooters are satisfied with one shot at maximum power and a backup, then that is what the manufacturers will continue to deliver.... Every time I present data that shows what can be achieved, the answer is the same.... "I only need one shot".... No point in hoping for more if that is what the majority want.... Bob
I don't hunt with air as It's not allowed her. So that discussion for me is pointless. What cones to the future, what I want to see is a true power without boundaries of air consumption, ultra high pressures and velocities beyond the sound barrier. I don't care about the transonic zone, it's not a problem to me when shooting with .22lr so why is it so big deal on airguns.Every time faster speeds are mentioned I see the same what's the point and wind drift data and so on. I want to see the boundaries broken, and to go beyond the same old mantra of efficiency and data. How far can we shoot supersonic? We will be pushing the envelope for sure, how about you guys? Marko
Until you compare the cost to a PB of similar caliber. While I am new to Big Bore, I like the fact I can shoot NSA's at ¢.54 a shot, while my PB of similar caliber is over $1.00 each pull of the trigger. Air guns are still a good "cheap" option regardless of the size.
