Backpacks

Hey all. I got a new backpack recently. I can't see how hunters can go out without a backpack of some sorts, for whatever reason they would choose to use it for. Need to carry at least some dry socks and toilet paper and liquids and a snack. It's so easy to "bug-out" and go hunting on a moment's notice with a pre-packed bag of some kind. And I'm usually out there for at least a few hours enjoying the woods, a few miles from the vehicle.
So, anyways, I finally found a budget-friendly camo backpack with all the bells and whistles that I wanted, a couple of weeks ago or so. I already have a smaller daypack with chest strap and waist strap, but it's not camo. I also have another smaller pack with hydration bladder compartment and chest straps, but no waist straps and no camo. I wanted camo, internal frame, hydration bladder compatible (but I rarely use -- pain in the butt to fill and pack), wide shoulder straps, waist strap, and chest strap. I also wanted something with plenty of room to spare if need be, or if I want to backpack camp for a night or two with a tent/pad/bag/etc -- I'll get a better backpack for all that next spring.
I found this at my local Walmart for $39. "Fieldline Alpha OPS Internal Frame Pack." I like it. Definitely worth the 39 bones. Decent thickness of material, and it's sewn pretty heavy duty (despite what the online reviews say). I wouldn't trust the bottom lashing loops for holding more than a sleeping pad and bag though. The "internal frame" is basically just an aluminum U-bar -- Nothing fancy but it's there, and removeable also for to bend and fit to the shape of your back or just to totally remove.
I added 2 black lashing straps to the bottom lashing loops. In the pics below, I usually don't have the 3D LED Maglite on the outside, if I bring it at all. I just did that for to give scale. The pack is about 24 inches tall. This thing expands a ton, and has tons of pockets inside to keep stuff organized. I add a piece of camo blaze orange cloth on the outside to be legal and safe (along with the use of a blaze orange vest and hat).

The tag that came with the backpack lists the following:
- 21.5in x 13.5in x 8.5in
- Extra large main compartment with 3/4 zipper opening
- MOLLE (Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment) locking system
- Velcro name-tape and patch holders
- Side compression straps balance load and give quick access to gear
- Bottom lashing loops to attach bed roll
- Dual grommeted bottom drain holes
- Fleece-lined sunglasses and digital media pouch
- Quick access 2-liter hydration compatible pouch
- Left and right hydration hose ports with velcro closures
- Yoked shoulder strap system with adjustable sternum slider
- Padded waist belt with 1.5 inch webbing strap
- Top front accessory pocket with zipper closure
- Roomy secondary compartment with gear organizer
- Heavy-duty padded handle
- Extra large main compartment with zippered mesh pockets
What's in my hunting backpack (max):
....................................................................
- camo blaze orange (billed cap, stocking hat, vest, pack cover)
- pellets
- crow calls
- quarters for squirrel calling (x2) (lost my actual squirrel calls)
- paper targets and tacks (in case of re-zeroing)
- pepper spray (goes on shoulder strap, safety off) (I need to get a 'bear-spray' canister w/ holster)
....................................................................
- ski mask
- mesh camo head cover
- various gloves
- wool blend socks (x2 pairs)
- sunglasses and shooting glasses
....................................................................
- small 6x8 nylon tarp w/ paracord guylines pre-attached
- heavy duty 4x7 plastic
- paracord
- small aluminum stakes (x8)
- emergency poncho
- emergency blanket
- handkerchief / bandana (x2)
- duct tape (small roll)
- Shoe Goo
- 3-inch galvanized nails (x8) (tons of uses)
- spare AA battery (x2)
- small glow stick
- water purification tablets
- Aleve and Excedrin
....................................................................
- garbage bag (x5)
- one-gallon ziploc bag (x5)
- latex gloves (x5 pair)
- baby wipes in ziploc bag (x10)
- Altoids tin (fishing line, hooks, luers)
....................................................................
- small bottle Repel bug repellent (100 DEET for me)
- hand warmers (x4)
- toilet paper
- small bar motel Ivory soap (for washing hands and fish bait)
....................................................................
- firestarters (x4) (vaseline-soaked cottonballs in empty toilet paper rolls)
- tinder (dryer lint in 1/2 egg carton)
- Zippo & Bic lighter
....................................................................
- beef jerky or snack
- sunflower seeds
- liquids (2-liter hydration bladder, or 2-liter bottle of water, or 1-liter bottle of water, and/or hot water in large thermos in cold weather, flask)
- small water-filter bottle (empty) (remove filter to make instant coffee)
- instant coffee (powder) & sugar packets
- cigar
....................................................................
- razor knife
- multitool
- hobo tool
....................................................................
- 2AA LED Maglite
- 4AAA LED Energizer headlamp
....................................................................
- 3D LED Maglite (sometimes)
- 4AA AM/FM/Weather Emerson radio (sometimes)
- can of Chunky soup w/ pop-tab (sometimes)
....................................................................
So, basically the only things I need to remember to bring are:
....................................................................
- gun
- monopod
- binoculars
- machete (Cold Steel brand 18-inch dual-edge pointed)
....................................................................
^ I think that's it, lol. It really doesn't weigh that much unless I pack a complete 2 liters of water and the 3D flashlight. Waist strap and chest strap help a ton. Sometimes, hikers wear back supports but I've never tried that yet.
The 3D flashlight and H2O are the heaviest things. I don't carry the 3D unless I start after 2pm or so. Sometimes I push it until sunset, and sometimes I put in a good 3 or 5 miles. If I break both legs and have no cell phone signal (which I usually don't), I'm set though, lol.
Now, I just want a 4th backpack -- a bigger pack for camp-hiking, lol. I'm looking at the budget-friendly Coleman's at about $80.

My local Walmart also has smaller camo Fieldline-brand backpacks, so if you're in the market for something not too pricey, check them out. This thing is pretty comfortable, even with 2 liters of water and a 3D flashlight.
Ugh, well that's enough typing for me. Thought I'd share this in case anybody is looking for a larger pack at a reasonable cost.
Happy Hunting, all! (with or without a backpack)
Edited (added to list for later reference, lol)

Why did this get moved from 'Hunting Gate,' to 'Air Gun's And Related Accessories Review Gate?'
Backpacks are hunting. I would hope to think that the Hunting Gate is not only about posting about game.
