Selling vintage airguns on the forum

I would encourage you to sell your vintage airguns on this forum. Had two rifles left from my airgun shows and each sold in one day. I priced them to sell but rather give a good price than give the Bay their toll. Though not sure what the forum thinks but I would alert this page of your postings. I rarely look at the sales area given most are modern guns?

They might sound like a lot of work till you realize you only need 3-4 pumps for plinking.

That's definitely what I'd prefer to do if I was selling.
I would just be looking to get the gun to a good home and help a forum member check one off their list , I have no need to make as much money as possible.
Everything I have is in a better to shoot than look at condition anyways .

What's the shipping procedure? Did you use the postal service/ buy boxes off them?

I have sold numerous Sheridan Streaks on here. Most all of those were sold after the buyer contacted me, rather than me listing one. If I have a non-Sheridan, I am more apt to list it here.

I declare them as sporting goods with no mention of "guns".
Old clothing, particularly fleece-type jogging pants is good for cushioning rifles, and you would need to separate the action from the stock--- and the scope.
That's what I do anyway.
..and courier boxes are kinda expensive.

I have bought way too many rifles so I have 5 boxes left from previous purchases. The USPS and UPS ships airguns but I usually say its a BB gun cause it sounds less intimidating. You can insure and they give you a tracking number. The only real issue selling on the forum is from the buyer, he is giving you money with the hope the gun arrives. I have made so many post I think I have proven myself. But one of the guys wanted me to call him so he could see I was on the level.

I shipped one in for some work recently in original shipping box and it ran me just under 40 dollars using Fed Ex, if you were wondering. I told them it was a pellet gun, which it is.

The guy at our local post office just tells me he don't want to know.
They know me very well there. All first name basis.

I have shipped by both USPS and UPS and have never been asked about what is in the package.

Is it perishable, fragile, or liquid...ect is all I've ever been asked with regards to packages.
I have only shipped guns for repair and not sold any though.

I've sold here on the forum a few times in the past, but over the last few years, it doesn't seem to get a lot of traffic. I usually wind up putting my vintage things on Gunbroker. Although, I did stockpile several items for sale in order to take them to Findlay and Columbus airgun shows, but the left overs have been Gunbrokered now.
As for shipping airguns, I try to save boxes and shipping material from the guns I buy (air or otherwise), however, occasionally I run out. When I do, I will buy new boxes and packing supplies from Uline. Over the past 20 some odd years I have yet to have anything I shipped damaged. Buying new materials can be expensive (buy in bulk) but it provides peace of mind.
As for shipping outfits, I finally gave up on USPS this year. Their rates have gotten too high. Although I may still use a flat rate box for an air pistol. If they ask what I'm shipping - long guns are telescopes (even though federal regulations permit the shipping of air rifles with no problems).
At UPS or Fedex, I tell them exactly what it is, and I insure it. If you say it's something different and it's lost or damaged they will not cover it (insurance or not).
