My new to me Daisy 917.

I received my Daisy 917 today in the mail. I definitely like the feel of it. I have yet to shoot this great little rifle, do to running out of time today.
So long as it shoots well I think I will like this rifle, hopefully it will not take to much work to get up to par. It does need a new felt wiper, that will be solved tomorrow, though having pumped it, let it set, and discharged the air I think that it is holding air quite well.

what if we removed all the warning labels, and let nature take it's course?

While mother nature kept the sun away so no pictures yet, I did do some plinking today.
Only plinking so far as it is raining to good to set up paper targets for punching.
I do like the 917 quite well, as it is. It does need a new oil wiper as mentioned, though it holds air well. It does have the old style bolt without an O-Ring, I will have to see about fixing that.

As soon as mother nature cooperates, need sunlight (no flash photography for me), and it is a stormy day here, and supposed to be for the next 2 days

I think I like the newer 880 a lot better than the 917, so far anyway.
The stock trigger on the 917 is a lot nicer, though it was made before the flat spring was added. The barrel is better supported in the 917 in stock form than the new 880. Though it just does not feel as good as the newer 880's, and I can not see the same power potential from the older power plant, even modified as far as possible, compared to what the newer Daisy 880's can be modified to do.
By newer 880 I am talking about since they went to the smooth aluminum pump tube, and added the piece to hold the check cup seal in place instead of relying on a ridge in the pump tube to hold it.
Though this is just my point of view.

Just got a new (to me) 917, myself. I'm loving the 880-style shooting with the Crosman-style pellet feed
