I've noticed nothing going on in the past months.Nope not too much new at the moment, too many projects not enough time.Just wanted to say hello and I am loving that 15 shot magazine you made for me, works great and no problems at all. If you do get started on your Bullpup again make sure you post some of the things you are doing to it, that is a sweet looking Marauder thats for sure.Take care and keep us up to date...WilliamWow, I missed this post, Im just half a year late haha. Hope the magazine is still running good for you.

Got the new bolt handle made and the bolt finished also, just heat treat is left now.Right is my first attempt, middle is my newest attempt, and the left is the factory one.I turn the tip of the bolts a bit thicker, I believe it helps load the pellets more consistently and it leads to improved accuracyOther small changes, added a knurl to the bolt handle for a little more grip, and also counter sunk the handle into the side of the bolt for a cleaner look. I never did it on the first bolt, mainly because i'm lazy, definitely looks much better tho. I think it might be a little too square shaped tho, might put a taper on the smooth part of the handle?
Thicker probe tip blocks transfer port .... how that leads to more accuracy is

Nicely done are you going to make any for sale or pass the design specs along to someone who will ?
Quote from: Motorhead on April 02, 2016, 12:34:01 PMThicker probe tip blocks transfer port .... how that leads to more accuracy is What I found on one of my AG's is, a smaller needle tipped probe had a tendency to tilt the pellet upon loading into the breach causing some irregular shape at times, also if the lead was super soft the probe would push (sink) right into the lead pellet or bullet not seating it fully past the transfer port or just at the very edge. I have had tight bullets and JSB's that actually stuck on the probe upon opening the bolt.I doubled the size +/- a little to give the probe more surface area to push on any harder loading pellets or bullets so the probe would not sink into the projectile. After getting it to load squarely and pushed into the barrel the proper depth with a little fatter probe I did notice a lot better performance in accuracy and loading easier.Of course there is line to be drawn in losing FPS as well as accuracy if the probe is to big, but as long as you do not lose the FPS with a fatter probe, then the bigger the better!Yes a fat bullet will cause loading problems, but some of the styles of bullets i shoot need to be a little bigger in diameter to shoot well, so they naturally load harder. Longer bullets will have more friction upon loading as well, so if the probe has a larger surface area to push it in the chamber without sinking into the lead bullet the better the chances are of it seating fulling past the Transfer Port.Of course most of you already know this,You should always make sure that when a pellet or bullet is seated into the chamber that it is indeed going past the Transfer Port! Of course your answer is going to be that there should not be that great of a tolerance for a pellet to have a chance to tilt, or the leade should be tapered correctly, but not every factory AG is perfect! Just as a rebuttal ... When chambering pellets pushing up on the thin skirt sides you have a much greater chance in changing the symmetrical profile of said skirt area IMO.While the loading aspect has merit in keeping pellet going straight in, Same can be done by alignment of a pin probe to contact on CENTER of pellet skirt cavity. * A dent made where NO AIR FLOW during flight happens also has a strong argument to be made I build a lot of Match rifles and a common practice to aid in chambering pellets undamaged is having first a FREEBORE / LEADE that is free of rifling ( In a deeper seating once bolts closed type ) or a soft taper on flush seated types. When pellet also has to engage rifling, having the rifling press into head of pellet far better than having rifling CUT the engagement into the lead pellet.A soft rifling engagement also lowers the effort required to chamber & seat a loaded pellet.Just sharing practices ... None are decidedly right or wrong, but each has its merits to aid or make the process of shooting undamaged pellets happen
Hey Bob,Notice it's been a long time since we have had an update, just wondering how everything is working out? Have you shot it in any FT matches yet this summer?thanksPatrickB
