Plus G-hogs always prefer to burrow under a structure and it's hard for them to resist a shed.
G-hogs use their nose as well to find other burrows. I have seen them sniff my house and the neighbors'. They will walk sometimes twice around the house using their nose and then eventually walk around my shed and then slowly and reluctantly will enter the burrow under the shed. Sometimes they wait outside thinking there is one in there and it may take them a couple of hours to get the nerve to go down the burrow to investigate further. That is also because they seek each other out and like to burrow near other G-hogs although they don't get along until mating season. They seek mates for next spring and want to be close to them when they come out of hibernation.Harry
