Low, Med, High - what are the heights?

I've tried to search for data on the measurements from dovetail groove to scope center line for the three scope ring heights . . . and haven't found the information. Perhaps it is just the "engineer" in me, but in an activity involving minute-of-angle discussions . . . what's up with the most accurate designation of the height of a scope ring being "low", "medium" or "high"
? Thanks in advance for giving me direction to find the information requested.

I think they actually vary some from one to the other, yes it would be nice if they provided you with what you're scope height would be from the top of the dovetail or something. I lucked out thinking the medium height for the 30mm tube would be a good fit on my Airmax Dominator. UTG is the brand I got.

Try looking at the manufacturers web sites, not the retailers.
Here's a sample of UTG info available:

Good research project for you...
Catalog has lots of info :

Good question... one I had quite often early in the game. I have so many of each around now that I can just about tell by holding the scope to my desired position on the gun.

There's no set industry standard for what low, medium or high rings should be afaik. One makers low might be 10mm, another's could be 8mm. Objective size is the most critical thing to look at, moreso than tube size.

Thanks for putting me on the trail to find the information! I had "tunnel vision" going - only looking at retailer information. What an idea! Go to the mfg. web-site for more detailed information! As Homer Simpson would say, "DOH!"
The UTG link provided listed the exact information . . . and as mentioned . . . saddle heights varied. Though on that ONE page of data, Low=10mm saddle ht., Medium=15mm saddle height and High=20mm, 22mm and 25mm saddle heights.
Finally, one responder mentioned that maximum objective size which can be mounted with a given ring is the real (practical) issue - and that was indeed the underlying thought to my post . . . and that information was right there on the UTG page!
Thanks again guys!
