Yes... I am aware of the weight...it may be excessive. I am young, weight is not a huge problem as of now, but definitely something to consider. I would really like to eventually get a good light and laser for it also....but, a 15 pound gun is a beast. (not to mention it already is . Would having high rings create a problem? I would probably end up getting something like the Hawke 1 piece high mount (https://us.hawkeoptics.com/match-mount-1-1-piece-9-11mm-high.html). Thanks!
FFP reticles can grow to a size that they may obscure all or part of the intended target depending on distance. These factors are minimized at normal air gun distances but become very pronounced at true long range distances so perhaps not so much of a factor on an air rifle.

Since FFp reticles never cover any more or any less of a target, regardless of magnification chosen! Actually the reticle remains the same size or obscures exactly the same amount of the target all of the time. The ffp reticle remains to scale of the sight picture. Yes the sight picture gets larger and smaller as does the FFp reticle each remaining to scale. The FFP reticle does appear to get larger as the target does also at the same time. You should look through a FFP rifle scope at say a dime size target and zoom in and out say from 3x to 12x back to 3x and watch the reticle cover exactly the same amount of the target at any magnification available. As far as FFp reticle thickness goes, you have a choice of thick or thin as I owned a falcon 4-14x44 with a reticle so thin it could disappear in the shadows This review has a sight picture view of the reticle http://www.snipercentral.com/falcon-optics-menace-4-14x44mm-ffp/ Here's another, scroll down to see the same sight picture in 4x versus 14x showing how much the reticle covers up? http://www.longrangehunting.com/threads/opinions-on-the-falcon-menace-4-14-44.29657/
Athlon Argos Reticle at 8X and 34X magnification. This is a first focal plane scope. The reticle gets thicker at higher magnifications. However, the same percentage of covered target remains the same. We can split hairs on Verbiage, but this is what you see. The reticle does get bigger.
That is definitely some good food for thought! Thanks- I guess I just need to compare side by side. I gather that most rifle scopes are sfp? Probably what i'm used to... (:
