Hello everyone,
Have you guys tried the 16.9 ft-lbs LGU/LGVs yet? I am thinking of ordering one from the Netherlands, but I've only seen the 16J version. The one I am looking at's in .177 and 23 joules of energy are more than enough for a rifle in this caliber. I hope that a bit more power than the standard 16j version won't affect its accuracy too badly. As I said, I don't have any experience with this particular model, so any help's appreciated.
Thank you.

Senseless!
IMHO the 23 Joule was simply a marketing gag for the US-market.
I bought one of those LGV in 2013 and the max I could get was 17,5 Joule / 12,9 fpe.
Shooting behaviour was simply unacceptable as was accuracy.
Neather the LGV nor the LGU systems are designed to produce 23 Joule in a nice accurate manner.
Put a 16J/12fpe-kit in mine and it totally transfered the gun
Shooting perfectly fine and accurate. Its a tack driver.
Same goes for the LGU.
So stick with the "lighter" versions or turn to something else.

Thank you, Andreas. Have you used yours for dispatching small pests? As much as I like the Walthers, I am not entirely sure if 16J of energy would allow me to take longer shots (50-60 meters). According to Chair Gun Pro, it should be.

I don't believe the LGU / LGV's were designed to push that hard. When kept in the 11.5 -12 FPE range they are a pair of the most accurate springers around.
I shot a one hole 6 shot group at 40 yards with my 177 LGU yesterday. It is running 11.5 FPE

The highest energy level from an LGU I have found doing a quick search on the air gun forums is 14.75 FPE (20 J).
The average about 12.5-14 FPE (17-19J). The higher the power for piston air guns the harder to shoot accurately.
You can still kill small game with 16J. With accuracy, head shots at 40 meters is possible at squirrels.

The 16J one should do the trick. I only shoot at paper targets, but there are also quite a lot of crows, magpies, starlings, etc where I live. The rifle will definitely be powerful enough to dispatch any of those. Using a springer for hunting is probably not a good idea, but I am not a big PCP fan.
I do wonder if the LGVs are as good as the LGUs. I sincerely hope that the days of poor machining and bad alignment are long gone, but who knows...I'll stick with an underlever.

I have the "23j" version LGV, but last time i checked it only delivered 17j, but going to bring the chrony with me this weekend and check her again, but i love my LGV! IT is super accurate and the quality is up there with weirauch or air arms, but not the looks, still Think they are a bit ahead
