While I currently have modified Gen I PRIMOS sticks and they work fine, they don't do any better than the set I made for myself when I first started in HFT:
Go to your local garden store. By 2 garden support poles, they are usually green and come in various lengths and thicknesses. I am 6 feet tall so I got 6 foot poles. Make sure they are good and stout. My 1st attempt the poles were too flexible. Use the knot found in this vid to connect them. . I have been using mine for years now. Cheap, easy to make and they work great!
Consider a metal bipod that attaches to a sling swivel stud of a rifle, and is long enough to use in the sitting position. They are much more stable than any shooting sticks I've tried when shooting from a sitting position. I like that they are solidly attached to the rifle. Of course it depends on how stable you need to be and what position you are shooting from. I can hit prairie dogs out to 400 yards with a bipod from the sitting position.

Here are mine made from golf shafts.
I learned a lot building this Buggy, taught myself how to weld and how to use a lathe and mill, the frame is 1-1/4" Chrome Moly and mild steel, made all the suspension and most of the drive components, used VW axles. It was a "BLAST" to drive, had a 1987 Suzuki GSXR1100 engine with custom exhaust and 38mm racing carbs, it put out 140 hp, top speed 140 mph, I geared it for Ocotillo Wells, but it ran great at Glamis too, beat a lot of the Big Boys at the sand drags, it cost me $6,000 to build, and it was blowing Doors on $60,000 buggy's, But it's not a set of shooting sticks..........
